What is the job role?
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team. In this exciting role, you will help in shaping and delivering Coventry's Flood Risk and Drainage Development Management Service to support our ambition to be a top ten city where everybody can share in the benefits of sustainable growth.
You will support the Flood Risk Manager in the following key areas; deal with day to day review and regulation of planning applications to be compliant with national and local standards together with policy. Aligned to our vision, the successful applicant will promote and deliver sustainable development across Coventry.
This post provides a sustainable career opportunity to work within a forward thinking Flood Risk Management and Drainage team, for which Coventry is recognised.
Who are we looking for?
Key to this role will be a knowledge of design standards to conduct technical reviews of new residential and commercial development projects at all stage of planning, regulation, construction and adoption.
A working knowledge of relevant planning and technical guidance such as the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), CIRIA SuDS Design Manual, Sewer Sector Guidance is essential.
You will provide clear guidance to developers to deliver compliant and sustainable development, with guidance on design for flood resilience, reviewing flood risk assessments, surface water drainage systems, SUDS integrating nature-based solutions and, where necessary reviewing outcomes of hydraulic modelling of watercourses.
Key is also an ability to work successfully with key partners, together with internal and external stakeholders to deliver sustainable development.
