We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for cloud technologies and automation to grow their career in DevOps. Working as a critical part of a small DevOps team, your experience will contribute towards the deployment and management of our extensive in-house developed systems, largely in AWS.

This role provides a fantastic opportunity to be a part of an interesting business faced with challenging problems needing some intellectual problem solving. We are a flexible and dynamic team, regularly tasked with complex problems that require novel solutions with a rapid turnaround. It's challenging but rewarding - our team is responsible for integrating military-grade systems onto civilian aircraft, used in the Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) industry.

Key Responsibilities



Responsibilities:

AWS Infrastructure Management:

+ Assist in the deployment and management of AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.).
+ Monitor and maintain the health and performance of AWS infrastructure.
+ Implement and maintain security best practices within the AWS environment.

Automation and Infrastructure as Code:

+ Contribute to the development and maintenance of our CloudFormation-orchestrated architecture.
+ Assist in the automation of deployment pipelines and infrastructure provisioning.
+ Explore and implement automation solutions to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.

CI/CD Pipelines:

+ Assist in the maintenance and optimization of CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build and deployment processes.
+ Work with development teams to ensure smooth and efficient deployments.

Monitoring and Logging:

+ Implement and maintain monitoring and logging solutions using tools like CloudWatch.
+ Analyze logs and metrics to identify and resolve performance and availability issues.
+ Help to create and maintain dashboards and raise alerts.

Collaboration and Communication:

+ Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of software.
+ Document processes and procedures.
+ Participate in team meetings and contribute to knowledge sharing.
+ Assist in problem solving and incident response.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise



Technical Experience and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or relevant work experience. Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS. Experience of administration of Linux/Unix-based and Windows operating systems. Comprehensive understanding of networking principles and protocols. Containerisation - Docker / Kuberetes Good knowledge of at least two programming languages (e.g., Python, Rust, C).

Skills Profile

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. A strong desire to learn and grow in a DevOps environment. Must be based in the UK and willing to undergo UK security clearance. Willing to travel, typically around Europe, for training and conferences, and occasional travel to our head office in Nottinghamshire.

Flexible Working



Hybrid working at Gamston, 1 or 2 days in the office per fortnight, to support on-site projects.



Occasional travel around UK/Europe
