The Medical Capabilities, Systems & Insights Lead is responsible for strategic planning and delivery of a framework to ensure that the medical affairs teams have the capabilities, guidance, systems, processes and support to fulfil their roles. Reporting to the Executive Director, Medical Excellence, the Medical Capabilities, Systems & Insights Lead is accountable for building and sustaining world-class capabilities across the Global Medical Affairs (GMA) organization.






The role combines three critical pillars

-- to ensure our medical teams are equipped, enabled, and informed to drive the company's scientific and strategic objectives. The individual will partner closely with Medical Affairs leadership, Field Medical (MSL) teams, Digital/IT, Commercial Excellence, and other cross-functional stakeholders to design and implement best-in-class solutions.




Key Responsibilities







Strategic Capability & Training


Conduct recurring global training needs assessments for all GMA functions, including Global Medical Affairs, Medical Excellence, MSLs, Medical Information, and Scientific Communications teams. Design, deliver, and continuously refine a competency-based curriculum (virtual, in-person, and blended learning) that aligns with therapeutic area priorities and evolving external standards. Working closely with local Medical Affairs teams, establish and maintain a global program for Field Medical personnel, incorporating assessments and mastery milestones.




Medical Systems & Platform Ownership


Serve as global business owner for key medical platforms (e.g., Veeva CRM, content/slide libraries, medical inquiry systems, insight portals, virtual engagement tools), ensuring they are appropriately configured, documented, and compliant with all regulatory requirements. Partner with Digital/IT and external vendors to manage system roadmaps, upgrades, user acceptance testing, training, and change management. Develop and track KPIs on system performance, user adoption, and business impact, driving continuous improvement and budget optimization.




MSL Excellence & Ways of Working


Define and embed global standards for MSL role clarity, scientific engagement planning, insight capture, and metrics. Provide high-quality scientific content, tools, and playbooks that enable MSLs to deliver impactful, compliant, and differentiated engagements with external experts. Facilitate global communities of practice, sharing best practices, resources, and innovations across regions.




Insights Generation & Strategic Decision Support


Establish a harmonized framework for global insight capture, curation, and visualization--leveraging dashboards and analytics to transform data into actionable intelligence. Conduct regular synthesis of cross-functional insights (MSL, medical information, scientific congresses, digital channels) to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Deliver strategic insight reports and facilitate discussion with senior leadership to inform medical strategy, evidence generation, and launch planning. Maintain governance for insight quality, taxonomy, and feedback loops to ensure continuous refinement.




Compliance & Quality


Ensure all training content, systems configurations, and insight processes comply with global and regional regulations, industry codes, and internal SOPs. Partner with Legal & Compliance to conduct periodic audits, gap analyses, and corrective action planning.




Team management


Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of congress professionals, providing clear guidance on expectations, ongoing support and development opportunities and feedback as needed. Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture focused on continuous learning, innovation, and professional growth. Provide direction and guidance to team members on strategic initiatives, operational processes, best practices, and strategic objectives.




Other


Ad hoc project support: lead and/or support initiatives as needed for to drive Medical Excellence projects and activities.



What you have to offer







Education: -


Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related field. Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MBA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.




Experience: -


+ 10 years in Medical Affairs within the biotech / pharmaceutical industry, including direct responsibility for capability building, field medical excellence, and/or medical systems management. Proven track record in transforming data/insights into strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders. People-leadership experience (direct or matrix) with evidence of developing and mentoring talent.




Preferred Requirements: -


Global or multi-regional experience working in a matrix environment. Familiarity with oncology Experience with digital learning technologies, AI-enabled analytics, and agile ways of working. Demonstrated experience leading global or regional training programs and owning system implementations (e.g., Veeva Medical CRM, LMS, insight dashboards).

Communication - Exceptional written, verbal, and facilitation skills; able to translate complex scientific and technical concepts into clear, engaging messages. Stakeholder Engagement - Builds trusted relationships with internal and external partners; adept at influencing without authority. Analytical Mindset - Comfortable with data analytics, KPI creation, and deriving actionable insights. Leadership - Inspires, motivates, and retains diverse talent; fosters a culture of continuous learning and excellence. Problem Solving - Anticipates challenges, applies structured thinking, and delivers pragmatic solutions.




Travel: -


Up to 25%, including global and regional meetings, training rollouts, and field visits.
