Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and inspirational Senior Early Years Leader with a Level 5 Early Years qualification to lead, manage, and develop high-quality early years provision. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role, ensuring outstanding care, learning, and development for children while supporting staff performance and maintaining compliance with EYFS and Ofsted standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
Lead and support the Early Years team to deliver high-quality, child-centred practice
Act as a role model, promoting best practice across the setting
Support recruitment, induction, training, and performance management of staff
Deputise for the Manager/Head of Early Years when required
Curriculum & Quality Assurance
Oversee planning, assessment, and delivery of the EYFS curriculum
Ensure observations, assessments, and progress tracking are accurate and effective
Monitor practice to ensure compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, and welfare requirements
Drive continuous improvement and prepare for Ofsted inspections
Safeguarding & Welfare
Act as a Designated or Deputy Safeguarding Lead (where applicable)
Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are fully implemented
Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all children
Parent & Stakeholder Engagement
Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external professionals
Address concerns professionally and positively
Support smooth transitions for children within the setting and into school
Operational Responsibilities
Support staff-to-child ratio management and daily operational planning
Contribute to budget awareness, resource management, and staffing rotas
Maintain accurate records in line with regulatory requirements
Requirements & Qualifications
Level 5 Early Years qualification (e.g. Early Years Lead Practitioner or equivalent)
Significant experience in an early years leadership or senior practitioner role
Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and Ofsted inspection standards
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff
Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable Criteria
Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead
Experience supporting staff through Ofsted inspections
Paediatric First Aid qualification
Experience working in a London-based early years setting
