Position summary:

The individual is responsible for creating dynamic editorial content that draws from data and scientific knowledge to highlight the impact of the Rainforest Alliance\xe2\x80\x99s work around the world. The individual will be skilled at parsing field observations, expert analysis, and thought leadership relating to Rainforest Alliance projects and programs in priority areas (notably regenerative agriculture and Integrated Landscape Management) to tell compelling and accurate stories. The individual will be a part of the Marketing & Communications team and will work closely with the Global Programs and Regions teams to collect stories, and then collaborate closely with the Advocacy and Corporate Engagement teams to tailor messaging to key audiences (notably companies, sustainability experts, consumers, and donors).

Responsibilities:

The individual will combine their broad scientific understanding and strong creative writing skills to deliver the following:

Develop editorial content for corporate and consumer audiences that highlights Rainforest Alliance field impacts and thought leadership, shaping an evolving understanding of regenerative agriculture and other scientific/technical concepts relevant to our mission (e.g., web articles, value propositions, LinkedIn messaging, video scripts, etc.)

Research and write short- and long-form web articles in collaboration with internal stakeholders that provide an informative and engaging window on the science and expertise at work in our global alliance.

Copyedit/ghost-write content produced by expert colleagues to ensure accuracy and consistency with the Rainforest Alliance brand style (e.g., position papers, thought pieces on LinkedIn Pulse)

Support the social media team to create dynamic social media content for consumer and business audiences (e.g., Instagram/LinkedIn posts, informative videos, podcast talking points etc.)

Collaborate with the video and design teams to visualize data and impacts.

Collaborate with the Global Programs team to translate data from regenerative agriculture and other projects into business-friendly communication pieces that highlight key results and impacts, and repurpose relevant findings for consumer audiences

Conduct interviews with Rainforest Alliance staff and stakeholders (e.g., farmers, scientists, industry experts, etc) to develop editorial content that helps form a multi-faceted and multi-vocal body of work showcasing the impact of our regenerative agriculture and landscape initiatives now and in the future.

Qualifications:

Education: An undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant scientific discipline (environmental science, biology, ecology, agricultural science, agroforestry etc.,)

Work experience: Minimum 2-3 years of work experience in an editorial team, journalism, science communications, or relevant sustainability field;

Excellent writing, copyediting, and verbal communication skills with proven experience in content creation for multiple audiences;

Native-level English; proficiency in Spanish or French preferred;

Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a time sensitive manner; detail-oriented; strong attention to detail;

Strong creative and ideation skills

Travel Requirements - Ability to travel approximately 10% per year, nationally and internationally.

Job level: 4A

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
