to take ownership of the end-to-end design process for complex electrical systems, primarily within modular power solutions. This position involves both hands-on design work and cross-functional collaboration to ensure high standards of safety, compliance, and innovation are met throughout each project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the full electrical design scope from initial concept through detailed design, documentation, and handover.
Design internal electrical systems for modular enclosures, including:
Low voltage (LV) distribution networks
Internal small power and lighting systems
Fire safety and suppression integration (e.g., smoke alarms and automated suppression)
Fuel management and control systems
Support the installation of generators and switchgear within containerised units, including the production of:
Electrical layouts
Cable schedules
Load and fault level calculations
Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and Block Cable Diagrams (BCDs)
Liaise closely with mechanical, software, and project engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Interpret client specifications and ensure design compliance with BS7671, IEC regulations, and other applicable standards.
Provide mentorship and technical support to junior engineers.
Represent the company in technical discussions with stakeholders and customers.
Essential Skills & Experience
Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of experience in electrical design, ideally involving modular systems, building services, or manufacturing.
Confident in using design software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar.
Strong working knowledge of LV systems, control panels, and on-site electrical installations.
Able to create and verify detailed technical documentation to industry standards.
Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organisational abilities.
Chartered Engineer status, or working towards it, would be advantageous.
Working Hours
37.5 hours per week:
Monday-Thursday: 7:30am - 4:00pm
Friday: 7:30am - 1:00pm
All UK Bank Holidays observed, plus a full Christmas shutdown.
