In this role, you will lead medium-sized projects, overseeing the design and coordination of electrical engineering systems from concept through to delivery. You'll be expected to guide junior team members, liaise confidently with clients and project stakeholders, and ensure designs align with industry best practices and sustainability principles.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and coordination of electrical systems for a variety of building services projects
Prepare concept plans, design briefs, and detailed specifications
Oversee and guide project engineers, CAD technicians, and support staff
Ensure all designs meet relevant standards, codes, and regulations (BSI, CIBSE, IET, etc.)
Carry out and review electrical calculations and performance simulations
Produce technical reports, schedules, and documentation for client presentations
Attend project and client meetings and provide regular updates
Inspect installations, monitor progress, and conduct quality assurance checks
Advise on ongoing operation and maintenance of completed systems
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in
Electrical Engineering
,
Building Services Engineering
, or a related field
Minimum of
5 years' experience
in a UK-based building services consultancy
Chartered or working towards chartership with
CIBSE
or
IET
Demonstrated commitment to
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Essential Skills
Strong knowledge of building services standards and regulations: BSI, CIBSE, IET, ENA
Experience designing and specifying electrical systems including HV (11kV and above)
Understanding of sustainable design and alternative energy systems
Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage clients and internal teams
Desirable Software Skills
AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks
Dialux / Relux for lighting design
Understanding of BREEAM and sustainability principles
