By encouraging continuous learning and providing clear pathways for progression, we ensure that everyone can enjoy a rewarding career and, together, deliver outstanding technical advice and services to our clients.

What's the Job About?

As part of BPA's Engineering Division, you will be central to delivering technical expertise and project solutions that underpin both our own operations and those of external clients. Your scope of work spans feasibility studies and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), providing the foundation for safe, efficient, and cost-effective project execution.

In this role, you will lead and manage FEED-stage engineering projects, ensuring clear scope definition, robust technical inputs, and high-quality deliverables. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, oversee budgets and schedules, and maintain strong stakeholder communication throughout the design phase. Your focus will be on developing technically sound, practical solutions that set projects up for success, while upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance.

What You'll Be Doing:

Lead and deliver FEED projects from initial approval through to execution-ready handover, ranging from small single-discipline studies to large multi-discipline scopes. Define project scope, assumptions, interfaces, and manage change control, ensuring clear progress reporting and risk visibility. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and structured FEED reviews to achieve accurate, predictable outcomes. Develop reliable project estimates, budgets, and schedules, ensuring alignment with client requirements and delivery within approved constraints. Manage commercial and contractual aspects, including supplier engagement, bid evaluations, and invoice authorisation. Prepare technical and commercial documentation for procurement and support contract award recommendations. Build strong client and stakeholder relationships through transparent communication and timely delivery of high-quality outputs. Ensure compliance with HSSEQ standards, industry codes, and BPA procedures, embedding safety by design and maintaining robust governance throughout FEED.

What You'll Need:

HND or degree in an appropriate engineering discipline (ideally mechanical, electrical or Control and Instrumentation). Minimum of five years' experience in design, project engineering, or consultancy within a relevant industry sector (downstream oil & gas, high-hazard industrial or remote pipeline locations is highly desirable). Experience supporting procurement activities (technical bid evaluation, vendor clarification, and recommendations to award) is advantageous. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce well-structured technical documentation and deliver confident presentations. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail; ability to define problems, analyse data, draw conclusions, and present findings clearly. Computer literacy in standard office applications; familiarity with project management tools and specialist engineering software (e.g., hydraulic/flow modelling, stress analysis) is advantageous. Valid UK driving licence.

Salary

Basic salary of 45,000 - 55,000

What's on Offer:

Ongoing training and development opportunities to support your professional growth Generous pension (up to 12% employer contribution, 2% minimum employee) Annual bonus scheme (up to 12% of annual salary) with an extra 6% possible for standout performance - that's 18%! Life insurance (4x annual salary) 28 days holiday + 8 days bank holidays plus the ability to buy/sell holidays Family friendly policies from day 1 of employment An award winning Private Medical Insurance scheme with additional perks Employee assistance support scheme Various well-being initiatives
You will work on a hybrid basis out of our Hemel Hempstead office and need to be based within commutable distance and have the right to work in the UK.
