What you'll be doing:

Your skills and experiences:




A relevant degree in a STEM related discipline, or equivalent, or demonstration of comparable suitable working experience Previous experience of operating within a technical team, and ability to provide coaching and mentoring to others within the team to support their development Understanding of System Engineering design lifecycle within a Complex Engineering Environment Previous experience of working in a fast paced environment and applying SME knowledge to confront challenges to keep projects/programmes on track
Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution.



Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation.



Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Type 26 Gunnery team:





The T26 Gunnery Team is a highly motivated and professional group of engineers and project professionals primarily tasked with delivering the complex installation, setting to work (STW) and acceptance of the Maritime Integrated Fires System (MIFS) and a number of other Gunnery capabilities (CIWS, SCG and FP) into the Type 26 Global Combat Ship (T26 GCS). The team executes this task through a strong work ethic and close collaboration and with a wide variety of stakeholders including suppliers, logistics, planners, production teams and the customer community (inc MoD, RN and supporting authorities).



The installation of complex weapon systems requires a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary approach, clear and consistent 2-way communication and a strong will to succeed in sometimes challenging conditions. A sharp technical eye for detail and resolute attitude towards problem solving are also considered key attributes in a Gunnery Engineers skill-set. The team is currently progressing towards system STW in HMS Glasgow and looking forward to the 2nd iteration of equipment load-out and installation in HMS Cardiff, whilst planning for the first T26 sea trials in the background.
