Senior Engineer (Backend/DevOps) - 12-Month Contract | Manchester (Hybrid)
A global financial services leader is seeking a Senior Engineer to build secure, scalable backend services and modern AWS infrastructure. This is a hybrid role (3 days per week in Manchester) and pays up to 600p/d inside ir35.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Node.js and NestJS. Implement robust error handling, logging and testing (unit, integration, mocking). Build and automate AWS infrastructure with Terraform or CloudFormation. Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines for microservice deployments. Embed DevSecOps best practices across IAM, networking and compliance. Improve performance, reliability, and observability with CloudWatch, Datadog or Prometheus. Collaborate with Agile teams to deliver high-quality, secure software at scale.
Key Skills:
Strong Node.js/NestJS and REST API development experience. Skilled in AWS (IAM, networking, ECS/EKS, Lambda). Proficient with IaC, CI/CD and scripting (Python, TypeScript, Bash). Hands-on with Docker/Kubernetes and modern authentication tools (Auth0, Ping Identity). Committed to code quality, testing and clean engineering practices. * Excellent communicator and team collaborator.
