Balfour Beatty is recruiting an experienced

Senior Engineer

to join our team in Abergavenny, supporting the construction of a new bridge spanning the

River Usk

. This is a key role on a high-profile structures project, offering the opportunity to apply your technical expertise to a complex, multi-disciplinary scheme that will have a lasting impact on the local community and transport network.



As Senior Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across the structural and civil engineering elements of the project, ensuring all works are safely delivered to programme and to the highest quality standards. You will play a central role in

setting out

, managing

temporary works

, and coordinating structural activities, working closely with the wider engineering and delivery teams.

What you'll be doing



As a

Senior Engineer

you will:


Leading site engineering activities and supporting the delivery team across multiple civils schemes Setting out, surveying, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance Managing and mentoring junior engineers and site team members Coordinating design information, technical queries, and subcontractor interfaces Ensuring all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements Supporting the Site Manager and Project Manager with planning, reporting, and problem-solving.



Who we're looking for

You will have the following:




Proven experience in civil engineering delivery (e.g., highways, structures, drainage, earthworks, utilities) Strong technical capability and confidence in setting out and QA processes Experience leading small teams or mentoring junior staff Excellent communication and coordination skills A proactive approach to safety and quality Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering (or relevant discipline) CSCS, SMSTS/SSSTS desirable.
