Salary: \xc2\xa343,516 to \xc2\xa346,549 per annum

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week)

Location: County Hall, West Street Chichester PO19 1RG (Hybrid and Flexible Working) This role will offer hybrid working arrangements where the preference will be 1 day per week based at a County Hall Chichester and 1 to 2 days per week on site. You will be able to work from home. Final arrangements to be confirmed with successful candidate.

You will play a pivotal part in the Valuation and Estates Team within the Property and Assets Directorate. The team provides a high quality and professional service delivering all West Sussex County Council\xe2\x80\x99s property needs. This ranges from the acquisition of land and buildings and their subsequent management, through to disposal, and involves liaison with other teams concerning the development and construction of new buildings and ongoing maintenance.

This is a role that requires someone with excellent communication skills, stakeholder engagement and management as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

All West Sussex County Council (WSCC) employees have a WSCC location as their contractual work location, however we do operate a \xe2\x80\x98Smarter working\xe2\x80\x99 approach, this is something that you agree locally with your manager, for what works best for you, your role, and your team. You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available.

The Opportunity

The role is extremely varied and will provide exposure to a wide range of property projects including landlord and tenant and development opportunities. As, the Council manages a huge variety of property and land, this role presents a good opportunity to build experience across a significant wide-ranging portfolio rarely seen elsewhere.

Alongside the Valuation and Estates Manager, you will deliver a comprehensive and cost-effective property management service. You will carry out the negotiation of lease and licence agreements, rent reviews, easements and wayleaves and the disposal of assets surplus to operational requirements to meet targets.

You will operate as a key property professional ensuring an effective customer-focused service is delivered.

About You

You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, communicating on several different levels with multiple stakeholders and adapting your style accordingly.

This role requires excellent stakeholder engagement and management, a proactive and pragmatic approach to complex property negotiations, strong organisational and communication skills, and an ability to work independently and as part of a team.

You will have estate management and other property experience including Landlord and Tenant matters. Countryside and Agricultural estate management experience is desirable. You will have a high level of knowledge and understanding of property legal contracts and the implication of property law, case law and planning law.

You will be able to make decisions confidently and in some cases recommendations, based on your market knowledge and experience.
