Sales / Estimating Manager

to strengthen our commercial and estimating function across the

London and Home Counties region

Role Overview:


The Sales / Estimating Manager will lead and support a growing estimating and sales team, ensuring the preparation of accurate and competitive tenders in line with business targets. This is a key leadership position that blends hands-on estimating responsibilities with client engagement and team development.

Key Responsibilities:



Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing estimating and sales team. Take ownership of incoming enquiries and oversee the tender process from start to finish. Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing. Personally manage and convert multiple high-value enquiries each week, supporting team members in achieving their targets. Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, engineers, architects, and internal departments. Prepare accurate reports on tender activity, project pipeline, and performance for senior management review. Attend pre-tender, mid-tender, and post-tender meetings as required. Drive business development efforts by strengthening existing client relationships and identifying new opportunities. Regularly assess team performance and implement strategies for improvement.

Person Specification:



BSc/HNC (or equivalent) in Building Studies, Construction Management, or related discipline. Chartered status (MCIOB or RICS) preferred but not essential. Strong technical understanding of construction and structural steelwork. Ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and 3D models accurately. Experience estimating projects ranging from

50-3,000 tonnes

. Skilled in budgeting and cost planning under tight deadlines. Familiarity with

Tekla

models and constructability principles. Commercially astute, with strong understanding of cost control and value engineering. Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to engage confidently with internal and external stakeholders. Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.

Hours of Work:


37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible working arrangements available.

Salary and Benefits:
