About the Role

Starfish 9 Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our commercial team. In this key role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for a variety of construction projects. You will work closely with project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure competitive and profitable bids, while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for construction projects.

Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.

Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and scope information.

Evaluate project risks and opportunities and provide value engineering solutions where appropriate.

Lead the estimating process from initial enquiry through to final submission.

Attend pre-tender and post-tender meetings as required.

Maintain and update estimating databases, cost libraries, and supplier contacts.

Collaborate with the commercial and project delivery teams to ensure smooth handover and project start-up.

Monitor market trends and pricing to ensure competitiveness and accuracy.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within the construction industry.

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and pricing structures.

Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook).

Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.

Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Desirable:

Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

Confident and professional approach to chairing meetings and conducting negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers, supported by well-developed communication and interview technique

Experience using Procore Construction Management Software.
