Job Summary




The Cruise Lines International Association's (CLIA) mission is to promote and protect the industry's license to operate. Currently CLIA has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Event Specialist on the Membership and Commercial Operations Team. This position, based in London, will report to the Director, Events and support the operations and execution of an international portfolio of events, conferences and webinars.


The ideal candidate is dynamic and derives energy from working in a fast-paced environment whilst managing multiple projects under competing deadlines. He/she embodies an impeccable sense of professionalism with all levels of staff and is a self-starter who is not afraid of ambiguity and is willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

Essential Job Functions



Support the development, planning and execution of CLIA events, conferences, and webinars to include planning, logistics and assisting in program content, coordinating event communications, budgeting, and onsite event execution in the Americas, and Europe. Support coordination of special European events and briefings, in collaboration with Europe office Support management and/or coordination of vendor sourcing and relationships and; registration, hotels, AV; catering, floral, entertainment, etc. Lead creation and management of registration systems and microsites. Facilitate all membership webinars and online meetings. Lead the creation and tabulation of pre-and post-event survey. Create communications timelines, and write, lead, format and deploy informational event communications. Lead, partner with marketing colleagues to develop copy, format and deploy event recruitment communications, including segmented invites. Support event budget development, tracking, reporting out and reconciliation. Support the membership team in creating, managing, deploying and fulfilling/tracking event sponsorship packages Coordinate administrative activities related to a CLIA's global event portfolio to include preparing and distributing materials as assigned.

Fluent in written and conversational English Superior writing and editing (short form copy to include content and event descriptions, memos, half-page event overviews and marketing) Impeccable technology skills and optimizer of new technologies Proficiency in Microsoft Office with a high aptitude for Excel Experience in managing registration for small and large events Ability to support multiple projects with competing deadlines while remaining flexible in a fast-paced work environment Self-started, professional, calm and solutions-focused

Required Education and Experience



High school diploma; Bachelor's degree in related field or industry certification. 2+ years of job-related experience in planning events, conferences and online programs from initial concept to final launch. Equivalent combination of education and experience. CMP or other meeting planning designation preferred but not required. Preferred experience of EventsAir event management system. Demonstrated experience with email service providers (ideally Real Magnet), Customer Relationship Databases such as Salesforce or Aptify, and meeting/event software to include Zoom, GoTo meeting and Microsoft Teams meetings.

Work Environment



This position is based in our London office as part of a hybrid work environment with 3-4 days in the office and 1-2 days remote. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.

Required Travel



Approximately 25% of travel is required to provide onsite support for events and conferences.

Physical Requirements



Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
