Job Purpose



A Senior Field Care Supervisor plays a crucial role in maintaining high standards of care delivery, ensuring that care workers perform their duties correctly, and that service users receive safe, effective, and person-centred care. To ensure the safe, effective, and person-centred delivery of care services to clients in their own homes by supervising and supporting care staff in the community. The Senior Field Care Supervisor is responsible for conducting initial assessments, reviewing care plans, Rota planning, performing spot checks, supervising care workers, and ensuring all care delivery complies with regulatory standards such as those set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). This role is key in maintaining high standards of care, promoting client satisfaction, and ensuring that care staff are well-supported, competent, and compliant with agency policies.

Key Responsibilities



1. Supervising Care Staff

Conduct spot checks and supervision visits to ensure care workers follow policies, procedures, and care plans.

Provide support, coaching, and feedback to care workers.

Address performance issues and escalate concerns as needed.

2. Conducting Client Assessments

Carry out initial needs and risk assessments for new service users.

Participate in care planning and reviews, ensuring care plans reflect current needs.

Monitor and update documentation in line with changes in client condition or preferences.

3. Ensuring Quality of Care

Ensure care is delivered in accordance with CQC standards (or relevant local regulatory requirements).

Promote dignity, respect, and person-centred care.

Identify and act on safeguarding or health concerns promptly

4. Liaison and Communication

Maintain open communication with clients, families, healthcare professionals, and the office team.

Respond to service user queries, concerns, or complaints and follow up to resolution.

Ensure continuity of care and appropriate coverage during staff absence.

5. Documentation and Compliance

Keep accurate records of supervision, assessments, incidents, and service delivery.

Ensure staff complete documentation correctly and promptly.

Support audits and contribute to compliance reports.

6. Training and Development

Identify training needs among staff and arrange or deliver refresher training.

Ensure care workers are competent in medication administration, moving & handling, and other key areas.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

7. On-Call and Emergency Support

Participate in on-call duties, providing emergency support and staffing coordination outside office hours when required.

Essential Criteria



Experience:

Minimum 3-5 years' experience in the UK as a field care supervisor or Care Coordinator within domiciliary care, demonstrating proven operational and team leadership skills. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

Qualifications:

Possession of a Level 3 diploma in Health & Social care (or equivalent) is essential. Candidates with Level 2 who are actively working toward Level 3 may be considered.

Regulatory Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of CQC standards, the Health and Social Care Act 2008, and other relevant statutory regulations.

Leadership & Communication:

Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams, manage complex challenges, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Operational Competence:

Strong IT literacy with excellent organisational and administrative skills, ensuring efficient management of day-to-day operations.
