Job Description



Are you a meticulous and detail-oriented finance professional with a heart for making a difference? We have an exciting opportunity that could be your next step in allowing you to utilise your skills within both management accounts and the accounts payable function. You will have strong accounts payable knowledge and the ability to see the process through from start to finish. Your work will include line management of our Finance Assistant along with ensuring the aged creditors, payment runs and supplier statements are all maintained to an excellent standard. As part of your development within the role, you will also play a key part in delivering efficient accounting processes for Ashgate Hospice and supporting our budget holders. Your work will include accruals, prepayments, fixed asset and depreciation calculations to ensure accurate and timely production of the monthly accounts to a deadline. In addition, you will be competent with analysing the balance sheet and ensuring all accounts are reconciled. The main responsibilities include:

  • End to end responsibility of the Accounts Payable function

Although this role offers flexibility for hybrid working, you will be expected to attend the Hospice site for adhoc duties and meetings on a weekly basis. As this site is based in Chesterfield, you will require independent means of travel for this role. About you: To excel in this role, you will have a proven track record of performing and innovating within management accounts and accounts payable. You should have experience of working in a finance team in a similar role, have a positive, can-do attitude and a mind-set of continuous improvement. Experience of line management would be an advantage. You will be a team-oriented, customer focused and supportive individual who can work both hands on and can support and develop their direct report. You will also have the drive to develop and improve processes, establish and streamline efficiencies and above all, demonstrate the personal attributes aligned with our values. Skills and experience required:
  • Minimum 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience within an Accounts Payable function
  • AAT qualified/studier or equivalent experience.
  • Intermediate Excel and strong double entry book-keeping skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritise workload
  • High levels of attention to detail
  • Ability to engage and communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Curiosity and a healthy questioning attitude
  • An understanding of VAT and Gift Aid would be an advantage
  • Good leadership skills
