About the role


------------------


The Finance function at CEGE is pivotal in supporting funding proposals and post-award finance process within the department.



The postholder will:


Work closely with all professional services staff and academics, and in particular with the Director of Research, as well as with colleagues across the Central UCL teams. Oversee the efficient processing of expense claims, foreign payments and interdepartmental transfers, in compliance with UCL financial regulations. Oversee the expenditure on all General Ledger accounts and alert account holders of potential over/under spends. Oversee management and monitoring of departmental purchases, ensuring procurement needs are dealt with efficiently and are providing value for money. Reconcile department purchases and clear the purchasing account promptly each month. Liaise with HoD, DM and Faculty Accountant, to manage all aspects of the budget cycle, including planning, forecasting, reconciliation and investigation. Liaise with faculty accountant regarding yearly budgets and forecasts, providing statistics, recommendations and advice.



This position is open for secondment on a fixed-term contract ending on 30/11/2026.





We will consider applications to work on a part-time, flexible and job share basis wherever possible.



This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on-site.

Key requirements of the role are:


Knowledge of financial processes and regulations associated with a university/ research environment Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with a commitment to customer focus, which enable the post holder to liaise and interact with a variety of people at all levels, both internal and external to the university High level of numeracy, with the ability to understand and interpret a variety of figures and statistics, and deliver accurately against operational deadlines Excellent analytical skills to be able to research, analyse and interpret information and in turn prepare, interpret and present accurate financial reports for a variety of uses and audiences Responding proactively and appropriately to the needs of colleagues, staff, students and partners
