Reporting into the Financial Accounting and External Supporting Lead, you will assist in the production of accurate, and timely, year end and half year Group (consolidated) Financial Statements and Financial Statements for the subsidiaries and Regulated business.

This is a Hybrid Working role with a requirement to attend your closest geographical office, Chesterfield or London, on occasion.

About the Role
You will be a \'Key Stakeholder\' in provision of specific financial accounting information, both internally and externally. Alongside this, you\'ll be a crucial point of contact for technical accounting guidance across the business including any developments in new or revised standards.

Key tasks will include -

  • Assist with the preparation of the Group Financial Statements and supporting notes in the HY and FY announcements. This includes ensuring that any new accounting standards/FRC guidance has been incorporated
  • Assist with the preparation of the Financial Review for the HY and FY announcements
  • Ensure that the IFRS 16 accounting is complete and accurate
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist the wider team with the preparation and review of the subsidiary company Financial Statements
  • Provide accounting guidance/ accounting papers on any new transactions/new accounting standards
About you
To truly excel in this role, you\'ll possess, and be able to evidence, the skills and experience listed below:

Essential
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS, preferably in a large organisation/plc
  • Strong Excel skills (vlookups, pivots etc)
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, but still maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good organisational skills, be able to manage and prioritise your own workload and work on your own initiative
  • A team player but also capable of working on your own
  • Strong interpersonal skills - you will need to be able to communicate complex accounting concepts to senior management
  • Analytical and problem-solving capability
Desirable
  • Recent (last 3 years) experience of working in one of the \'Big 4\' or a mid-tier Audit firm
  • Knowledge of SAP, with an appetite to learn to use our Lease Accounting System and new tools such as Alteryx and Tableau
  • A continuous improvement mindset - a desire to improve processes and make efficiencies
