ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are looking for a hands-on Firmware Engineer to lead the development of software for our next-generation consumer electronics. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our firmware architecture, driving innovation in control systems, and collaborating across disciplines to bring high-performance products to life.
LOCATION
This role will be based in our Cambridge office.
JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the full lifecycle of firmware projects from requirements capture and specification to implementation, testing, and release.
Collaborate with the Head of Electronics to refine development methodologies and introduce best-practice frameworks.
Work closely with hardware, project, and product teams to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
Develop, tune, and validate control algorithms for motors, IoT devices, and other embedded applications."
Ensure firmware aligns with hardware design verification plans and meets performance and compliance standards.
Investigate complex functional issues, including product returns, and drive resolution through deep technical analysis.
Maintain clear documentation for internal use and regulatory compliance.
REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience in firmware development for embedded systems (microcontrollers), ideally in high-volume consumer electronics.
Strong proficiency in C programming (bare-metal and/or RTOS environments).
Solid understanding of control theory and algorithm design.
Experience with Zephyr RTOS and ARM Cortex-M architecture.
Familiarity with communication protocols: I2C, SPI, BLE.
Hands-on experience with BLDC motor control.
Agile development experience using tools like Jira.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related numerate discipline.
