Role Summary
Our Product Team is looking for an experienced Senior Furniture Designer to design & develop furniture across all Home Furniture Categories, including upholstery and lighting. The ideal candidate would be taking responsibility for everything from design concept through to technical development and product selection and must have experience across these categories to be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities (Include but not limited to)
Expertise in furniture design principles, colour theory, form and aesthetics is essential for developing innovative product concepts and comprehensive design briefs for new collections.
Develop and present seasonal design trends across all categories, covering both Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter, while ensuring all design milestones within the critical path are met on schedule.
Responsible for developing 50+ sku bi-annual seasonal product briefs, managing their own critical path timelines and potentially supporting junior team members in the future.
Monitor competitor offerings and emerging trends in furniture and interiors to create designs that align with contemporary styles and material innovations.
Visit furniture fairs, analyse market trends, data, and research to identify new opportunities in furniture and interior design, curating collections based on these trend insights and product gap analysis.
Assess supplier capabilities to determine where exclusive new developments are required and where off-the-shelf (OTS) opportunities can be refined for unique positioning through factory visits in Europe and Asia.
Balance creativity with commercial viability, ensuring designs remain within budget while incorporating distinctive elements to enhance product differentiation.
Develop exclusive design briefs, progressing from TDs & produce 2D line drawings for manufacturers and CADs to 3D renders, collaborating closely with buying team to refine concepts through sampling to final approval.
Work alongside the marketing team to create compelling visual strategies for new and existing products, ensuring brand alignment across all categories and website platform.
Provide all styling direction for photography by ensuring harmony between seasonal trends, the brand's core aesthetic and customer demographics.
Create a unified look across campaigns by using consistent colour palettes, textures, materials, accessories and layouts across sets and collaborate with marketing for final proofing.
Ensure accurate specifications from the start and collaborate with the QA team to ensure all products are engineered correctly and fit for purpose to meet our high-quality standards and sustainable values.
What do we need from you?
Job-Related Experience
Must have:
BA in Product and Furniture Design or equivalent Design Degree.
At least 5+ years of experience in a furniture company.
Experience with suppliers or having taken product from design to manufacture.
Must be capable of producing 2D line drawings for manufacture.
Must be proficient in both cad and rendering software for sketching, drawing or design software like AutoCAD/SketchUp/Rhino/Solidworks/3DSmax and Keyshot or equivalent 3D rendering packages.
Comprehensive understanding of materials, design principles, and aesthetics to develop products that effectively balance visual impact, functionality, and cost.
Create detailed specification documents for accurate briefing to manufacturers.
Proficient with the whole Adobe suite - e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator & InDesign.
Excellent Microsoft Office skills with a demonstrable ability to use Excel and Teams.
Nice to have:
