Senior Garment Technologist (own Brand)

Job Description

We are the Own Brand team at Sportpursuit, part of the SportScape Group, designing, developing & producing products for 19 different brands across a wide variety of sports, including cycling, outdoors, skiing, water sports, equestrian and much more.

We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic candidate to join our team as Senior Garment Technologist. You would be responsible for ensuring that all garments meet each brand's fit standards across sizes and styles. The role involves working closely with designers, product developers, and factories to create accurate tech packs, assess prototypes, and lead fit sessions. This position plays a critical role in ensuring quality, comfort, and consistency in garment sizing and construction.

Key Responsibilities



Fit & Construction



Own the fit process from prototype request to production approval, across a wide range of brands and product types Conduct and lead fit sessions on live models or mannequins Provide precise fit comments and construction adjustments to vendors Maintain and update fit blocks, size charts, and grading rules

Technical Specifications



Create and manage detailed tech packs including measurements, construction, and finishes Manage workload across multiple brands and product types Evaluate and provide feedback on supplier or internal patterns for fit and construction feasibility if necessary Collaborate with patternmakers to adjust blocks and patterns when required Ensure garments are developed to specification and meet quality standards Work closely with design to translate creative intent into technically feasible products Work closely with product development to ensure cost efficiencies and any cost impact driven by product changes Follow Critical Path timings to ensure we remain on track with planned schedule

Sample Review & Approval



Review and measure all development samples Identify and document fit, balance, and workmanship issues Approve pre-production and production samples when quality and fit standards are met

Mentoring



Regularly passing on knowledge & experience to colleagues within the technical team as needed, to upskill and ensure we have the required level of expertise across the team.

Vendor Communication



Collaborate with manufacturers to ensure clear understanding of fit and spec requirements Troubleshoot fit and construction issues with vendors to meet development timelines

Testing & Compliance



Ensure compliance with relevant fit and performance standards (comfort, movement, durability) Work with QA or labs as needed to verify performance or material issues impacting fit

Skills & Qualifications



Experience:

5+ years as a Garment Technologist or Technical Developer with strong fit and pattern focus, ideally in sports or outdoor industry.

Education:

Degree or certification in Fashion Technology, Apparel Design, Patternmaking, or similar field

Fit & Pattern Expertise:

In-depth understanding of body measurements, fit theory, garment grading, and pattern structure

Technical Tools:

Proficient in Excel, PLM systems, 2D pattern software (Gerber, Lectra, or similar), Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop (ideal but not essential)

Communication Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication; ability to articulate technical fit issues to non-technical teams

Detail-Oriented:

Meticulous approach to measurements, garment specs, pattern evaluation, and QA standards

Additional preferred skills:

Experience with both knit & woven garments, familiarity with EU & UK market fit preferences, knowledge of sustainable & performance garment construction

Salary:

40,00 - 45,000 depending on experience

Please note that we currently do not hold a sponsorship license for work in the UK and we will only accept candidates eligible to work in the UK.

This is a hybrid role. You will be required to attend the London based office 1-2 times a week in order to attend fit sessions and work closely with the sample garments & other colleagues.
