We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Senior Health & Safety CDM Consultant to join our External Health & Safety Team. This role can be worked flexibly from our London, Ipswich, Chelmsford, Cambridge, Maidenhead or Brighton offices with a mix of office and homebased working and the option to adjust start/finish times.

Our External Health & Safety team undertake an interesting and wide variety of work. Recent projects include:

New build of two 2no residential towers of 27 and 24 floors in located next to Manchester Victoria Station.

The CAT A & CAT B Fit-Out of c. 365,000 sqft of commercial office space comprising of Ground Floor Reception and Levels 12-24 plus the installation of an interconnecting staircase in Canary Wharf.

Demolition of existing retail building and construction of a new 15 storey mixed retail and commercial use located in London Victoria.

What does the role involve?

As a technical Health and Safety CDM Professional, you will deliver a wide range of consultancy services:

  • Managing a range of projects, advising the Client on compliance with the CDM2015 Regulations and other associated legislation.
  • Undertaking site inspections and preparing reports with proposed corrective actions.
  • Supporting clients in advising on the suitability of their H&S management arrangements.
Client focus is at the heart of what we do. You will play a key role in our overall client relationship management process. We expect our senior team members to have a focus on exploring new business opportunities and furthering our reputation as an employer of the best people.

You will also be supporting the technical director with developing/enhancing the technical skills of consultants in the team by sharing your experiences and technical knowledge.

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Hold a higher education qualification in design, engineering, surveying or a construction related discipline.
  • Hold (or demonstrate that you are working towards) chartered membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Demonstrable CDM project experience including the preparation of related document reporting.
  • Experience of managing Health & Safety risk processes within the design and construction industry.
  • Have comprehensive working knowledge of UK CDM and Health and Safety Regulations/Legislation.
  • Have a general understanding of the Building Regulations.
  • Be able to work within multi-discipline environments within UK business areas.
  • Be able to manage your own time and project budgets (delivering to agreed project scope, time, cost and quality).
  • Have demonstrable consultancy, communication and relationship management skills with experience of conducting workshops.
  • Have the ability to engage with key stakeholders to gain commitment and to influence the acceptance of new ideas and concepts in respect of change plans.
  • Have good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to suit difference audiences.
  • Have strong collaborative skills and be a pro-active and supportive member of the business unit team working alongside your colleagues to deliver best in class services.
  • Previous exposure to relevant tender processes with the ability to support in the preparation of fee proposals.

Within the External Health & Safety Team you will be given the autonomy to make decisions, identify innovative practices, find efficiencies and implement change. As part of the wider Building Standards Division, you will also work closely with other discipline professionals and get exposure to the delivery of services under the new Building Safety Act.
