The post is based in a very busy, modern, and well-equipped Imaging department. The successful applicant will work closely with radiologists and nursing staff in fulfilling the commitment to provide a high-quality service to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional procedures. They will contribute to the coordination of elective and acute patients accessing the services of Interventional radiology, so must have a flexible approach and a strong work ethic in this busy environment to meet the needs of the service.
Contribute as part of the interventional radiology team to the diagnostic process, maintaining high standards of care, competence, manner, punctuality and appearance. The job description will be reviewed periodically as part of the performance appraisal system and may be subject to change with the agreement of the post holder and senior nurse or Superintendent Radiographer.

Manage a diary of elective and acute patients to maintain patient flow.
Assist Radiologists to perform procedures ensuring safety of the patients.
Care for patients post procedure and ensure their safe transfer back to the ward.
Maintain high standards of appearance, manner, punctuality and competence.
Work as part of a well-motivated team.
Escort patients both within and outside the department.
Enable/assist patients to maintain their personal hygiene, aid in the dressing/undressing of patients and enable/assist patients with eating/drinking as required.
Pay due attention to privacy, dignity and respect at all times.
Enable/assist patients to access and use toilet facilities.
Preparation of the patient and work area for a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic
examinations.
Ensure adequate stock levels of consumable items in any of the work areas.
Unpack stock as required, informing senior staff of discrepancies and shortages.
Assist with obtaining, transmitting and storing information related to the imaging process.
Receive messages and communicate effectively with other members of the team.
Participate in clerical duties including patient registration, obtaining previous radiology records and using the radiology information computer system as required.
Contribute to maintaining cleanliness of equipment and the general work environment within the department.
Contribute to the health & safety and security of individuals and the workplace.
Participate in developments relating to clinical governance including audit and quality control
duties.
