University Hospital Bristol and Weston (UHBW) are looking for Band 3 Senior Healthcare Support Workers (SHCSW) for Adult Theatres
You will be required to be fully flexible across all shift patterns.
Previous hospital healthcare experience is essential.
Good academic qualifications are required for this role, please see job description.
Please note, this role does not currently meet the salary requirement for certificate of sponsorship. From the 9th April 2025, the minimum salary required for a Skilled Worker visa became 25,000 per year. While this role may be offered at a higher point on the pay scale depending on relevant NHS experience, most new starters are appointed at the bottom of the band, which does not meet the new salary threshold.
Main duties of the job
Nursing Care (Band 3 SHCSW - Theatres)

  • Provide clinical and therapeutic care within protocols, using your judgement as appropriate.
  • Perform key duties independently: infection control, theatre preparation and cleaning, equipment checks, instrument handling, patient transfers.
  • Support patient care (including positioning for surgery), follow care plans, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively.
  • Adhere to Trust safety and infection control policies.
  • Expect exposure to bodily fluids and distressed patients.

  • Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker) or equivalent experience

  • Effective and appropriate communication skills both written and verbal
  • Able to complete appropriate documentation accurately
  • Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work and policies and procedures
