Job Description

We are working with a leading engineering consultancy who are seeking to recruit a Senior Highways Engineer to join their Transport Engineering team in London. You will be responsible for the preparation of detailed designs, feasibility studies and scheme reports for a variety of projects. In addition to providing technical input, you will also be responsible for project management, budgeting and producing bill of quantities, as well as costings.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Design responsibility for Highways and Infrastructure projects.
• Managing design output for projects.
• Providing technical input into major / minor highway and infrastructure schemes.
• Coordinating and liaising with other regional offices.
• Maintaining a good understanding of all relevant standards, Codes of Practice, Health & Safety Legislation, and current relevant design methods.
• Executing site-based or head office functions, liaising with the clients and other contractor\'s staff to collect project specific information as required by the Project Manager.
• Checking/approving own and other staff work, including third party design proposals, as identified in the Project Quality Plan on assigned projects.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Approaching Chartered status with experience in highway design.
• Sound knowledge of relevant design codes such as DMRB and MFS, Local Authority Highway Design Guides.
• Experienced in delivering technical design input associated with Highway Designs including S38 and S278 Highway Agreements.
• Expert knowledge of Highway Design Software such as Civil 3D or PDS, as well as AutoCAD.
• Ability to engage and conduct effective negotiations with client, stakeholders, subcontractors and third parties.
