job purpose/about the role

The Senior Housing Options Officer is responsible for managing a team of Housing
Options Officers, to delivering housing advice and assistance. The team\'s function is to assist customers to make informed choices about their realistic housing options and, where appropriate, assist them in resolving issues to sustain their homes. As part of this work the team are responsible for assessing and recording the council\'s statutory homeless duties

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

Educated to standard grade level or equivalent

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to take a day-to-day lead role with respect to service delivery
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including communicating confidently by the telephone and in person
  • Well-developed investigation and negotiation skills
  • Well-developed listening, interpersonal and decision making skills
  • Ability to deal with complex situations and modify behaviour in response to a situation
  • Ability to work with those with the most challenging needs
  • Ability to manage constant and often conflicting demands and deadlines
  • Ability to use a range of computer packages e.g. Microsoft Office and e-mails
  • Ability to develop and maintain policies and procedures
  • Ability to analyse information and produce written reports
