Your Role at Veezu:

The

Senior iOS Engineer

will be a foundational hire in the mobile engineering team, taking

direct, full ownership

of our flagship iOS Passenger application. This role is a critical mandate to modernise, transform, and elevate the quality of an application used daily by tens of thousands of users across the UK. You'll be working with a small but senior group of engineers, directly influencing the mobile architecture, user experience, and delivery processes.


Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering (or Head of Engineering), this role will have significant autonomy and responsibility in shaping the future of our mobile platform, ensuring it meets Veezu's high standards for performance, reliability, and security at scale.

What You'll Do:

Own the Flagship App:

Rapidly gain deep technical understanding and take over the development and maintenance of the existing iOS Passenger application from the current third-party agency.

Establish Excellence:

Define, champion, and implement world-class mobile engineering standards, including modern coding practices, rigorous code reviews, and robust CI/CD pipelines.

Modernisation Drive:

Lead the technical roadmap for the app, including evaluating and executing large-scale architectural improvements (e.g., migration to SwiftUI where appropriate) to ensure long-term stability and maintainability.

Quality and Testing:

Proactively define and implement comprehensive testing strategies (unit, integration, and UI tests) to ensure a high-quality user experience and rapid, safe feature deployment.

Collaboration:

Work closely with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and Backend Engineers to translate complex business requirements into high-performance, polished mobile features. Contribute to defining the team's culture of openness, curiosity, strong communication, and technical ownership.

What You'll Need:

iOS Mastery:

In-depth, demonstrated expertise in the Apple development ecosystem, with a complete command of

Swift

(including the latest features in

Swift 6

),

SwiftUI

, and

UIKit

.

Architecture & Quality:

Strong understanding and practical experience applying software architecture patterns (such as

MVC, MVVM

),

SOLID principles

, and common design patterns like

Observer

and

Singleton

.

Data & System Experience:

Proven track record with complex data management within iOS, including experience with

Core Data

, background processing, and sophisticated data synchronization techniques (e.g., using CloudKit or similar architectures).

Security Focus:

Deep, applied knowledge of security best practices in a mobile context, including the use of

Keychain

,

SSL pinning

, secure storage protocols, and adherence to privacy compliance and encryption standards.

Delivery Standards:

Extensive experience setting up and contributing to continuous integration/delivery (

CI/CD

) pipelines and using automated

testing frameworks

(unit and UI testing) to deliver robust, high-availability mobile software. A strong product mindset combined with the ability to make sound technical trade-offs that maximise business and customer impact. Bias toward action, thriving in an environment where speed, iteration, and ownership matter.

Where You'll Be:

The role is flexible on location with a requirement to attend meetings at Veezu office locations across the country as needed.
