We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Learning Disability Nurse to join our Unscheduled Care team at HMP Garth



HMP Garth has a capacity of around 800 males and is a category B Prison located in Lancashire.



We are looking for someone with experience in learning disabilities and is able to work in a challenging environment.,

You will mainly be based in the Healthcare Department however wing work will also be required as and when.

Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week 8am - 4pm

Salary





This position is permanent and you will receive an annual salary up to 43,609 - 49,175 per annum depending on experience.

What you'll be doing




As a Senior Learning Disabilities Nurse you will respond as directed by the Mental Health Team Manager in the day to day operational functioning of the Mental Health team.
You will have responsibility for a caseload and be accountable for all aspects of delivering a nursing service for adults with learning disabilities/ challenging behaviour, within the criminal justice setting You will be working with adults whose behaviours have resulted in their offending and coming into contact with the criminal justice system You will be working with the multi-disciplinary team to undertake person centred specialist behavioural assessments, planning and co-ordination of positive non aversive behavioural approaches to service users

Qualifications required




Current NMC registration - Learning Disability Nurse Working with patients, face to face, who have complex mental health conditions Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
Sound clinical knowledge and assessment skills including risk assessment

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
