Wilkes Academy was founded in 2013 and in 10 years have developed into one of the nation\'s leading Musical Theatre training establishments for young people wanting to enter the musical theatre and performing arts industry.

Always looking to develop and grow as an institution, our degree programme (Validated through Staffordshire university) is now entering its fourth year and has given us the opportunity to expand an already thriving teaching team.

The role includes:

  • Developing, creating and delivering on a challenging and rewarding set of modules for our BA in musical theatre (validated through Staffordshire university)
  • Preparing and delivering teaching and learning activities on various aspects of our Musical theatre course.
  • Delivery of practical skills, theory teaching, personal tutoring, and assessment.
  • Enhancing the student experience and facilitating ongoing course evaluation and development.
  • Engaging with and developing innovative and effective teaching methods to enhance student engagement and achievement.
You will have:
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of working within the musical theatre sector and will be very familiar with the requirements of the performance/industry.
  • Effective teamwork and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of module management in a higher education setting
  • Demonstratable up to date knowledge of the musical theatre industry and a commitment to keep up to date with the changing practices (e.g. technology, industry standards, developing artists)
  • The ability to teach musical theatre theory across all disciplines, acting, singing, dance, and multimedia.
  • A creative, innovative and flexible approach to facilitating learning, with commitment to ensuring an excellent student experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage a diverse audience.
To be successful for the senior lecturer post you will have, in addition to the above:
  • A relevant professional qualification and an undergraduate degree.
  • Experience and knowledge of course management and implementing quality assurance and enhancement processes across awards.
  • Experience of leading the development, design, delivery and assessment of modules and courses at various levels.
  • Previous experience of teaching in HE and developing specialist teaching materials (for example both online and in classroom settings)
  • Recent experience or knowledge in the supervision of research projects within areas of specialism - this can also equate to professional experience or outputs.
