The role



We are seeking to appoint a

RICS-qualified (or equivalent) Real Estate professional

with substantial and current industry experience to join our team as a

Senior Lecturer

. Whether your expertise lies in commercial or residential real estate, consultancy, development, investment, or the public sector, we welcome practitioners who can bring

professional credibility, practical insight and industry-aligned judgement

into an academic environment.

You do not need extensive prior teaching experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced industry practitioner who is passionate about professional standards and excited about

developing the next generation of real estate professionals

.

You will design and deliver high-quality, engaging teaching across our

Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Degree Apprenticeship programmes

, with an emphasis on applied, industry-aligned learning and RICS competencies.

Teaching Areas



You should be able to teach confidently in at least

two

of the following core real estate disciplines:
Real Estate & Property Law and Practice

Valuation & Real Estate Investment Management

Commercial Real Estate

Planning and Development


We particularly welcome applicants who can enrich their teaching with

real-world casework, practical methodologies, and contemporary RICS-aligned practice

An awareness of

current national and international trends

in the real estate sector is essential.

Lead the delivery of innovative, high-quality and academically challenging learning experiences

, ensuring they reflect contemporary professional standards and industry practice.

Translate substantial professional expertise into advanced academic learning

, enriching teaching with applied casework, sector insight and RICS-aligned methodologies.

Provide high-quality assessment, feedback and academic guidance

, supporting students' development, progression and professionalism.

Contribute to and influence curriculum design

, assessment strategy and ongoing programme enhancement, ensuring alignment with industry expectations and accreditation requirements.

Engage in and, where appropriate, lead research, scholarship or professional practice

, integrating this work into teaching and contributing to the academic reputation of the discipline.

Work collaboratively and proactively across teams

, developing strong internal and external partnerships that enhance the student experience and support knowledge exchange and applied learning.

Act as a role model and mentor

to colleagues and students, supporting the development of teaching excellence and professional standards within the team.


What are we looking for?



You will have:

Membership of RICS



A

good honours degree

or equivalent professional qualification

Evidence of

ongoing professional development

Technological literacy and the ability to use digital tools in teaching

You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers' Pension Scheme (TPS) - one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country.

Each year you will earn a secure pension benefit of 1/57th of your salary and the University will pay pension contributions towards the cost of this pension (currently worth about 29% of your salary). For a starting salary of 40,521, for example, the University would pay just over 11,600 in the first year of your employment and you would earn a pension of 711 p.a. for that year (payable from your State Pension Age).
