We are P&O a travel supergiant with an enviable brand and a company which has a history of over 180 + years and as we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join us.

The Legal and Compliance team are at the heart of keeping our business safe, helping us to navigate risks and make informed decisions. Working with a range of functions and stakeholders, this team has a strong impact and presence, creating the right checks and balances as well as education.

As our Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide comprehensive and advanced in-house legal support to the General Council/Director of Corporate Services on behalf of the P&O Ferries Group of Companies.

Location: Dover, Channel House

The role:

• Advise the Group Business units (Bus) and Centres of Excellence (CofEs) on all aspects of international or local projects and transactions.
• Work closely with Bus and CofEs advising and negotiation on a broad range of legal matters including disputes/litigation, contracts and all legal affairs connected to the Group
• Act as a focal point in dealing with external lawyers by selecting and recommending appointments of all external legal counsel as well as managing and co-ordinating the use of their services.
• Provide analysis and counsel to General Counsel and other senior management on legal compliance or other regulatory issues or business transactions.

Education and Qualifications:

• Minimum Batchelor of Laws degree
• Admitted as a Solicitor in England, Wales or equivalent jurisdiction.
• 5 years minimum PQE
• Experience of managing a junior legal team
• Strong IT skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
