Senior Manager, Early Careers Recruitment and Development - EMEA

As Senior Manager, Early Careers Recruitment & Development - EMEA, you will play a critical role in aligning Recruitment and the wider People teams across EMEA. You'll drive the firm's People strategy across the region, ensuring a consistent and high-quality candidate and employee experience for our Early Careers population across all EMEA offices.




Key Responsibilities




Strategic Leadership & Execution


Drive and own the Early Careers strategy, applying creative, strategic, and commercial thinking to attract top talent and align hiring with long-term business needs. Work closely with the EMEA Associate Director to develop strategic plans and foster strong partnerships with the business, ensuring high-quality recruitment and development across the region. Lead Early Careers Recruitment, Development and Branding in EMEA, including regular management calls and check-ins with EMEA offices, updates to key stakeholders on progress, numbers, initiatives, policy changes, etc. Drive execution by delivering tangible outcomes, both through effective team leadership and by influencing key stakeholders at both local and regional levels.

Stakeholder Management & Communication



Build strong relationships with Partners, lawyers, and business leadership, ensuring clear and consistent communication on Early Careers strategy, programme developments, and best practices across EMEA, while serving as the Firm's subject matter expert in Early Careers Recruitment and Development for the region. Ensure effective communication and knowledge sharing across EMEA, establishing clear channels for disseminating best practices and key updates. Proactively identify and drive cross-office and team collaboration opportunities, including joint recruitment initiatives, shared training sessions, and regional partnerships to maximise resources and expertise.

Team Leadership & Development


Lead, mentor and develop the Early Careers team in London, with potential for expansion across EMEA, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Headcount, Budget & Governance


Ownership of EMEA Early Careers headcount and governance in collaboration with the Early Careers Programmes Manager, overseeing coding, reporting, approvals, and liaising with the Regional HR Director and Operating Council for sign-offs on headcount decisions. Monitor and manage the EMEA Early Careers budget, ensuring strategic investment and cost efficiency in programme delivery.

Recruitment, Data & Systems


Develop and utilise recruiting reporting tools, metrics and analytics, recommending organisational and operational improvements based on data analysis. Ensure the effective use of the Firm's Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) for Early Careers recruitment, optimising system adoption and managing the ATS vendor relationship.

Programme Development & Employer Branding


Collaborate with the EMEA Early Careers Programmes team to identify strategic opportunities for programme enhancement (Recruitment & Development) and maximise their project management expertise. Support performance management, induction and training initiatives for Early Careers programmes in partnership with the Early Careers Programmes Manager - EMEA to drive consistency across the region, ensuring collaboration with other People Team resources (e.g., L&D, People Advisory). Oversee the management of Forage virtual work experience modules (and other similar candidate attraction tools) across EMEA. Work closely with the Senior Manager for Early Careers Programmes - EMEA to develop and deliver new modules and content. Develop a structured Early Careers lifecycle across EMEA, ensuring each office has clear, locally relevant resources for new joiners on career development, support structures and key contacts. Create strategic plans for EMEA Early Careers marketing and attraction, working with the People Engagement Communications team and Senior Manager for Early Careers Programmes to enhance employer branding.

Market Trends


Stay ahead of industry trends and best practices, proactively implementing new methodologies, policies and innovations in Early Careers recruitment. Maintain a global outlook in recruiting strategy, ensuring alignment with regional counterparts and best
practices across locations.



Qualifications & Skills




Extensive recruitment experience (ideally a minimum of ten years) within a law firm environment. Outstanding relationship-building skills and personable approach, combined with poise, gravitas, and the ability to lead through influence rather than control, creating consensus-based support for business strategies and decisions. Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to develop comprehensive short- and long-term strategic operating and business plans from broadly stated objectives in a dynamic, global environment. Demonstrable record of successfully managing, mentoring, and developing a team of top-tier professional and functional leaders in a geographically dispersed organisation. Proven experience in driving innovation, creative thinking, and continuous improvement, with the ability to foresee the impact of emerging trends and patterns. Superior presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Location and Reporting




This role is based in our London office. This role reports to Associate Director, Recruitment, EMEA.



Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for three days in the office per week.
