Job Summary




































What is the opportunity? The Senior Manager of Financial Control is responsible for all areas relating to the integrity of the general ledger for Wealth Management (WM) in the British Isles. You will be responsible for improving the efficiency of the financial control team, recommending changes and delivering on them. This position involves tight deadlines and a range of accounting activities including month end review and approval in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), head office reporting, statutory reporting and ensuring key reconciliations are produced and appropriate attestations are completed. You will be responsible for managing the Financial Control team, while ensuring the team are challenged and developed. What will you do? Management of team

  • Key member of management of the Financial Control function, whilst supervising, coaching and training others in the team
  • Ensure all tasks are delegated, controlled and delivered within agreed deadlines
  • Ensure training and career development plans are in place

Embed a culture of continuous improvement
  • Responsible for the continuous improvements of the financial control process, constantly challenging the way things are done to save time and improve the control environment
  • Ensure adequate documentation of processes and procedures are maintained in Confluence
  • Deliver on key Financial Control projects ensuring to understand the end to end impact of any changes
  • Drive improvements in the intra-group process, automating transfer pricing entries

Month End Activities
  • Responsible for ensuring all journals are reviewed across the team with adequate support and documentation
  • Responsible for the analytical reviews of month end results. Ensure that the results are well understood by business finance counterparts and presented to senior management
  • Key point of contact for Head office queries and leading change initiatives
Reconciliation of accounts and attestations
  • Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the end to end general ledger is maintained at all times \xe2\x80\x93 from transactions, to ledger through to reporting lines (RBC and local statutory, regulatory & management)
  • Ensure key control reconciliations, Standards of Documentation \xe2\x80\x98SOD\xe2\x80\x99 packages and Pega attestation are produced, reviewed and signed off in line with policy across WM
  • Ensure monitoring and resolution of all reconciliation breaks and review points by development and implementation of appropriate action plans within agreed timescales
  • Play a leading role in the year-end audit and ensure financial statements are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
  • Qualified accountant (or by experience) with relevant experience in a similar role
  • Legal Entity or financial control experience within a Bank
  • Understanding of regulation within a Banking environment
  • SOX audit knowledge
  • Experience in creating tax returns
  • Past working experience on relevant systems i.e. Peoplesoft, TM1
  • Experience in problem solving Financial Control issues
  • Built effective networks across business areas, developing relationships based on mutual trust and encouraging others to do the same
