Job Description

At PwC, our people in deals focus on providing strategic advice and support to clients in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring. They help clients navigate complex transactions and maximise value in their business deals. In deal valuation at PwC, you will focus on providing analysis and valuation services for mergers, acquisitions, and other financial transactions. You will help clients make informed decisions by assessing the worth and potential risks of various deals.

About the team




Valuations is a business unit within the PwC Deals offering. The Valuations team (of around 160 people) provides advice on the valuations of shares, businesses, intangible assets, debt and derivative instruments to a wide range of clients, including government offices, private equity houses, family businesses, multinational conglomerates and individuals. Clients come to us to obtain our advice on valuation for many reasons, including to support them in transactions, to provide expert advice in disputes, to negotiate valuations with the tax authorities and to comply with their financial reporting, regulatory or tax requirements. As valuers we need to fully understand our clients' commercial realities and those of the industries in which they operate. We pride ourselves on being the largest dedicated valuations practice in the UK, and the one with the deepest focus on industry specialisms. Our objective is to provide our clients with commercial, pragmatic valuation analysis that draws on industry insight and is grounded in technical excellence.


We are looking for a confident and proactive valuation expert for a Senior Manager position based in London and have valuation related industry experience in the financial services (FS) sector.


We do a broad range of work, including significant collaboration with our broader deals and regulatory practices. This includes valuation of large banks, asset managers and insurers, loan portfolio and credit analytics, portfolio valuations, dispute valuations, global organisational restructuring and valuations in resolution.


We additionally support our audit practice as valuation experts on a wide range of clients, including FTSE 100.

About the role




The role is an exciting opportunity to help lead a growing team and responsibilities and include owning and growing client relationships as well as managing an enthusiastic junior team. The focus would be on sector clients, operating nationally. We perform valuation support for businesses of all sizes and stages of development and the role will give a great opportunity to work with a mix of start-ups, mid-tier, private equity and leading global organisations.



The successful candidate will demonstrate: their ability to be proactive and win work in the market; their experience and ability to lead and motivate a team; their ability to coach and develop junior staff; and their technical expertise within valuations.



Responsibilities

Leading and overseeing valuation engagements. You will possess deep financial modelling experience, ideally with experience of tools such as Alteryx and PowerBi. Writing and reviewing valuation reports / analysis. Communicating this analysis to senior internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will be comfortable with articulating the importance of technology, data and artificial intelligence in both winning and delivering valuation engagements. Building and leading client relationships on projects and developing new client relationships. Coaching valuation staff on a mix of technical valuations skills, industry knowledge, commercial acumen and soft skills. Working with wider Deals and local partners and directors to build, develop and manage client relationships, including ownership of relationships with current and prospective clients.

Essential Skills and Experience





Valuation experience including valuations of shares, debt, assets (including intangibles) and businesses. Ideally you will have experience of performing valuations for tax purposes. Relevant industry qualifications such as ACA, ACCA or CFA. * Aside from technical valuation skills, we expect the candidate to have strong business and client relationship development capabilities, strong communication, and people management skills.
