Senior Mechanical Engineer x2

Location: Bristol

Salary: \xc2\xa340,000 - \xc2\xa360,000 dependant on experience

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

The Mechanical Engineer will support several projects that range from sustaining of the existing tool, new product development and test rigs for testing new designs or failure modes.

The individual will be accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Use of 3D CAD packages, ideally Pro-Engineer/Creo.
  • Good working knowledge of change management systems.
  • A good understanding of fluid dynamics.
  • Good Report writer.
  • Ability to conduct calculations. FEA, tolerance stack ups, data analysis from a run and effects of temperature.
  • A good understanding of drawing practices, GD&T, dimensional tolerance\'s and tolerance stack ups.
  • Excellent at problem solving and thinking out of the box.
  • Be capable of working on your own and as part of a team.
  • Can prioritize their workload to complete their goals.
  • Organized with the ability to handle more than one job at a time.
Skills Required:
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Previous design and engineering experience, minimum 10 years.
  • A good understanding of how parts are manufactured.
  • A good understanding of materials and their properties, such as yield strength, hardness and galling.
  • An appreciation of coatings and their use, ideally HVOF and coatings for extreme environments.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
  • Excellent computer skills using office 365 programs.
Knowledge of the following is desired but not a requirement.
  • Experience within the oil field industry preferably downhole or experience of working within harsh environments.
  • Knowledge of assembling and dis-assembly of mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Knowledge of designing test rigs, running tests, reviewing the results and presenting in an engineering report.
