We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a prestigious and innovative building services consultancy based in North West London. This consultancy is known for delivering exceptional engineering solutions across various sectors, including commercial, retail, industrial, and data centres. In this role, you will lead the mechanical design process from concept to completion, collaborating closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-performance systems that meet all relevant standards. Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and delivery of mechanical systems for a variety of building services projects
Prepare and produce detailed mechanical specifications, drawings, and schedules
Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices throughout the design process
Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, and contractors to coordinate project requirements
Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction, ensuring smooth project delivery
Advise clients on the operation, maintenance, and long-term performance of installed systems
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team
Qualifications & Experience
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline
A minimum of 3-4 years' experience in a UK-based building services role
Chartered, or working towards chartership with CIBSE or IMechE
Demonstrated commitment to professional development (CPD)
Essential Skills
In-depth knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mechanical system design
Proficiency in designing and sizing water and air distribution systems
Strong understanding of building physics, including heat loss/gain calculations
Familiarity with cooling systems, heat exchangers, and psychrometrics
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Desirable Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD, , and Navisworks
Experience with IES and SBEM modelling
Knowledge of BREEAM and sustainability principles
Understanding of Building Regulations and BS/EN standards
