This opportunity is working on the Sellafield Progressive framework, specifically supporting on the MSSS SEP project.
BPSS clearance will be required at basic level. Prior clearance will not be transferrable.
Main Purpose of Job:
The Senior Engineer manages the delivery of engineering and technical activities, through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience. At this level, an experienced engineer, high level of developed knowledge in a specialist subject area, resolves specific technical issues and problems, compiles technical reports and accompanying presentations, provides, reviews and adheres to specifications in accordance with stakeholder requirements. Coaches, mentors and assists others on matters pertaining to their own discipline, developing business awareness, builds strong working relationships with stakeholders, works independently with limited technical direction or as part of a small team.
Principal Responsibilities
Promote effective co-operation across Engineering and other functional teams
Assist in effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and such that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress
Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities

Contribute to Project Safety Assessment process
Ensure task and project risks are communicated and managed appropriately
Produce, review and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports as assigned
Assessing the implications of changes, concessions and queries
Maintaining the engineering configuration, ensuring the overall design intent and integrity is maintained throughout design lifecycle
Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions, including process improvements
Provide support to the Project Manager for the planning, control and delivery of tasks and projects
Make engineering decisions
Act as Technical Authority when authorised
Ensure application of highest standards for health and safety and ensure all team members across engineering co-operate with respect to company standards.
Experience
Senior Mech Engineer - Required to deliver work packages across various system scope, in a wide variety of mechanical handling and lifting problem solving scenarios.
Essential
CEng/IEng status
Experienced in delivering fit for purpose mechanical design solutions to cost and schedule
Ability to break down a problem/issue into constituent parts and present options for resolution
Able to contribute to the production of, deliver to, and report on plans of work
Able to communicate both verbally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders
Has a working knowledge and understanding of regulations relevant to the delivery of machinery (SOMSR 2008, CDM, PUWER, LOLER etc.)
Is familiar with engineering drawings (including checking) and standards relevant to their production e.g. BS 8888 & GPS
Can review, understand and challenge conventional engineering calculations in
accordance with BS 2573 or similar standards
Desirable
Ability and evidence of applying engineering judgement to make evidence and risk-based decisions
Experience of creating manufacturing specifications and supporting manufacturing queries/issues
Experience in the production of EO packs and supporting component Quality
Requirements
Experience in the production of Technical Files and accompanying deliverables and familiar with the EHSRs
Experience in production and/or checking of design substantiation and Safety Case deliverables
