We are looking for an ambitious Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our Manchester Building Services team.

This role is suited to a candidate from a Buildings background looking for an opportunity to pursue industry leading designs within a vibrant multi-disciplinary practice.

This role will see you leading the mechanical discipline on projects in the Northwest and further afield. This is a growing team with a strong pipeline of work across a range of sectors. Recent projects have included the new , the , , Space Studios in Manchester along with multiple other high-profile projects across the region and further.

You\'ll be collaborating with a wider UK MEP team of around 125 Engineers and Technicians and drawing upon the diverse skills and knowledge of other connected disciplines, including sustainability, building physics, fire engineering, facades, lighting, technology, and more. This role will give you a wide breadth of technical exposure and enable you to push the boundaries of sustainable design.

What design work will I be doing?

• Detailed design drawings with a specialisation in mechanical design.
• Prepare technical specifications and schedules and design development reports.
• Plan and manage BIM documentation of design work.
• Keep senior design team members informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and the objectives of the Buro Happold and the client are achieved.

Outside of design, what else will I do?

• Manage project finances, monitor scope, and ensure quality
• Plan and organise your workload to ensure that you are meeting and exceeding client\xe2\x80\x99s expectations.
• Attending client, site and external design team meetings.
• Support the career and technical development of junior colleagues

Your Skills & Experience

As a talented building services engineer, it is expected that you would be able to demonstrate...

• Extensive mechanical design experience in an MEP consultancy, with experience acting as Lead Engineer on projects.
• Diverse sector experience, ideally with large scale project experience.
• Bachelors or master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in engineering
• Ideally you will be chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant institution - e.g. CIBSE, IMechE, etc.
• Proficient in Revit; digital engineering skills (e.g. coding) would be a big plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
