Pulse, part of Acteon Group, are a market leader in subsea structural monitoring providing highly sophisticated monitoring systems and services to both oil & gas and renewables clients around the globe since 1998. Due to our ambitious growth plans we are looking to strengthen our team in a number of roles globally.

Pulse is currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the team on a full-time permanent basis.

The successful candidate will design and engineer mechanical systems and components typically used for complex, integrated data delivery projects within the energy sector. Responsible for delivering engineering drawings, calculations and associated documentation to the required standard in a timely manner. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide support to the team lead with reviewing and approving design packages, along with managing design packages for projects. Candidates should be experienced engineers and wanting to work in a close and dynamic team in an expanding and exciting company.

Our ideal candidate will be based near Wokingham, as there will be the requirement to be in the Pulse office.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support lead engineer in producing and reviewing engineering drawings of machined and fabricated parts
  • Manage design packages for projects and standard projects
  • Produce general arrangement drawings and BOM
  • Conduct FEA on designed parts and produce design reports
  • Produce procedures for assembly of components
  • Check other engineers\' designs and drawings
  • Create and supporting documentation such as calculations and reports
  • Proactively find solutions to design problems and engineer those, ensuring adequate analysis of such solutions is performed and documented where relevant - e.g. sizing calculations, load and resistance evaluation
  • Support production during assembly and resolve issues if they occur
  • Assist project managers with project delivery (assembly, testing, installation) if project workload requires, including offshore installation if necessary
  • Documentation control, complying with Pulse internal processes and ISO 9001 documentation control
  • Client interface, understanding client requirements including potential trips to client facilities/office
  • Understanding of supplier / manufacturing processes. Potential visits to supplier\'s site
  • Working with Purchasing for procuring of system components
  • Support Management Team in completing any other tasks as required, providing within the skillsets of the individual
Requirements
  • 9+ years\' experience in similar role
  • Applicable engineering degree preferred
  • Having a recognised apprenticeship would be an advantage
  • Chartered or aiming to be chartered would be beneficial
  • Knowledge and application of Mechanical Design Principles
  • Good knowledge of mathematics and basic physics\' principles with the ability to perform and check calculations
  • Competent Solidworks user in designing machined parts and fabrication drawings, Solidworks Simulation experience beneficial
  • Competent in 2D draughting
  • Good knowledge in GD&T
  • Electromechanical design experience would be beneficial
  • Practical workshop experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform conceptual designs
  • Good understanding of design to cost and design to manufacture
  • Good time management and planning ability
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Broad experience working on engineering projects
  • Proficient at report writing and summarising conclusions
  • Experience in working in a team and management of work packages
