Job Summary:



We are seeking a senior MRI Radiographer to be part of a team delivering high quality, efficient radiographic service. To provide highly skilled and specialised imaging for patients, to make informed decisions on the diagnostic imaging required and to demonstrate a professional, caring and responsible approach to the duties carried out.

This role contributes to the organisation and development of the imaging department by contributing to and maintaining protocols and SOPs and deliver a high quality of diagnostic imaging to all service users, ensuring clinical safety and facilitating a high standard of patient care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:



To work as a Radiographer to a high professional standard and to provide assistance, training and guidance to others, mainly to radiographers, helpers and students in order to maintain these standards. To be responsible for the standard of own imaging work and that of other supervised radiographers and students: This standard will be that set by LivingCare. To administer IV contrast (according to LivingCare protocol). To maintain knowledge of technical and clinical developments, attending professional training/development courses as appropriate and providing feedback that would benefit or enhance the service. To ensure that an efficient throughput of patient examinations is achieved. This will also involve advice of the booking of appointments and advice on preparation as required. To ensure that patients are cared for in the department especially in their own area of work. To communicate to patients and others any delays likely to affect them, and within the standards set by the HPC to describe examination findings, if appropriate. Checking patient's details prior to examination and ensuring that such details are present and correct on the request form/computer. Requests must be justified as per LivingCare protocol and as per statutory regulations; Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) and the radiographer must use their professional judgement to refuse inappropriate requests. To ensure that patients are not pregnant prior to certain procedures. Ensure that, on completion of examination, the patient is informed how they will get their results and that they may leave and arrangements are made for transport if necessary. Films should be sent to the clinician for reporting. Ensure that radiation safety measures are being observed within the limits of the procedure being carried out and that his/her own standard of Radiation Protection is in accordance with the "Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999", IR(ME)R 2000 and any other relevant legislation. Ensure that all images are properly identified with patients name, side examined, date of examination. Films should be in the patient's PACS folder. To enter information of the examination into the electronic patient record. To be responsible for own workflow and others within the designated area and prioritise requests within that area and to ensure a good throughput of patient examinations is achieved. Ensure that identified abnormalities are brought to the attention of clinicians (medical staff/ advanced practitioners etc.) so that images may be reported upon urgently in the patient's best interest. To ensure that LivingCare radiology procedures are implemented and maintained To participate in the medical/clinical audit of examinations. Ensure that all LivingCare relating to Health and Safety, COSHH, Security and Ionising Radiation's Regulations 1999, IR(ME)R 2000 and any other Local Radiation Safety policies are adhered to. To attend compulsory training as instructed. Ensure that all apparatus and equipment is working satisfactorily and safely and that: Any malfunction is reported to the Radiographer in charge. Any unreasonable delay in repair is brought to the attention of the Radiographer in charge. Any fault occurring on equipment is entered into the relevant downtime log. 17. Assist the Radiographer in charge in keeping accurate and appropriate documentation for equipment within the area. To ensure that Clinical Governance and risk management are embedded within daily practice. Provide and receive patient information, ensuring that all patient information is provided, received and recorded in accordance with the Data Protection Act and LivingCare Policies. 20. Carry out any other duty that reasonably falls within the general nature and level of responsibility of the post, including cover in other imaging modalities. 21. To be available to cover at either site depending upon clinical need.

Essential Criteria



Diploma or Degree in Radiography

HPC Registration

Evidence of substantial CPD in clinically related and relevant subjects

IV injection certificate of competence

Previous experience as a Radiographer in an imaging department

Competence across a range of radiographic skills supported by professional and specialist knowledge acquired through degree (BSc Honours in Radiography or equivalent qualification).

Evidence of post registration continual professional development in relevant short courses.

Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies, such as the Care Quality Commission

Desirable Criteria



Previous experience working in the private healthcare sector

Previous experience of clinical audits

PgCert in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Coaching skills

Evidence of success in working in partnership with Consultants

Auditing skills across clinical standards and departments

Ability to implement continuous improvement initiatives

Other Criteria



Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Highly numerate and literate

Able to work in a commercial environment while maintaining safe standards.

IT literate and a competent user of the MS Office suite of products

Able to demonstrate an understanding of health policy and professional health agendas

Ability to deal with difficult and sensitive issues in a supportive and professional manner to effect positive outcomes

Able to deal effectively with challenging situations and challenging individuals

Ability to gain the confidence of colleagues and peers

Flexible approach to work and working patterns

Willing to travel on company business and to share expertise between clinic locations.
