Job Description

The ideal candidate will have significant experience in care, particularly in administering medication and working night shifts, and will be responsible for leading a small team of night care workers while ensuring the highest standards of care for our residents.

This position will suit someone with excellent care values, who is kind and compassionate, lives locally and have an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social care.

This is a full-time position, with 39 hours per week over an 8-week rota. The role includes occasional day shifts to cover for staff holidays or absences, providing additional flexibility in your work schedule.

Responsibilities:



Lead, supervise, and support a small team of night care workers to deliver high-quality care to residents during night shifts. Ensure that care is delivered in line with care plans, and provide guidance to junior staff on how to handle challenging behaviour's or situations, especially those related to alcohol-related dementia.

Administer medication

as prescribed, ensuring accurate dosage, timely delivery, and proper documentation, following all legal and health regulations regarding medication administration. Monitor the residents' well-being, providing personal care, comfort, and companionship as required. Provide emotional support to residents, especially those with memory loss, behavioural challenges, or who may experience anxiety or disorientation during night hours. Be the primary point of contact for any emergencies or incidents during the night shift, ensuring appropriate action is taken and documented. Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records, documenting resident behaviour, progress, and any changes in health conditions, including medication administration. Liaise with the Home Manager and day staff regarding any updates, concerns, or observations about residents. Ensure the care environment remains safe and secure throughout the night and following all health and safety protocols. Provide occasional cover for day shifts during staff shortages or holidays, maintaining flexibility in your working hours. Participate in team meetings, supervision, and training to stay up to date with best practices and regulatory changes in health and social care.

Qualifications & Experience:



NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care

(essential). Proven experience in a care environment, with at least 2 years of experience working night shifts (essential).

Experience with medication administration

and knowledge of relevant protocols (essential). Experience leading or supervising a team (essential). Familiarity with alcohol-related dementia and the challenges associated with alcohol abuse recovery is highly desirable. Strong knowledge of health and safety standards and regulatory requirements in care homes. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team. Ability to work independently and manage night-time routines effectively. Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to care, particularly with individuals suffering from dementia or cognitive decline. Willingness to work occasional day shifts to receive training and support.
