Job Overview



Pitlair House are seeking compassionate and dedicated

Senior Nursing Home Carers

to lead and support a team of carers in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met in accordance with individual care plans, company policies, and regulatory standards. This position requires a nurturing spirit and a commitment to ensuring the well-being of those you care for.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Care Delivery



Assist residents with personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, and mobility Administer or support in administering medication (when trained and authorised) Monitor residents' health, recording changes and reporting concerns to nursing staff or management Support residents with meals, hydration, and daily routines

2. Team Leadership



Supervise and mentor junior care staff, ensuring care tasks are carried out to a high standard Assist with induction and training of new care staff Allocate daily tasks and oversee care delivery throughout shifts Act as a role model by maintaining professionalism and compassion at all times

3. Communication & Documentation



Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records, reports, and handover notes Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and healthcare professionals Participate in and contribute to care plan reviews, resident meetings, and staff briefings A knowledge of electronic record keeping is desirable but not essential as full training will be given

4. Safeguarding & Compliance



Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all residents, following safeguarding procedures and reporting concerns Follow all policies relating to health & safety, infection control, and confidentiality Comply with CQC regulations and standards at all times

5. Emotional & Social Support



Build positive relationships with residents, promoting independence and dignity Provide companionship and emotional support tailored to each resident's needs Support activities that encourage mental stimulation and social interaction

Requirements:



Essential:



NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent) Previous experience in a care home or similar setting Excellent communication and leadership skills Understanding of confidentiality, dignity, and safeguarding

Desirable:



Medication administration training Experience with dementia care Knowledge of CQC standards and care planning

Working Conditions:



Shift-based role including weekends, and holidays Physically active - requires lifting, supporting residents, and long periods on your feet Emotionally demanding at times due to the nature of care work
