Vantec Europe Limited (VEU) are headquartered in Washington, Sunderland and owned by the Logisteed Group. We are one of the top third-party logistics (3PL) providers in the Japanese market, and we are continuously growing our global business.

We currently operate 13 sites in the UK with a customer base in high volume automotive, premium automotive, construction equipment, lighting, automotive battery and offshore industries.

Senior Operations Manager

Working within the Vantec Europe Limited (VEU) Senior Leadership team

based in the North West in Crewe/Winsford.



Day shift role (40 Hours)


Monday - Friday

Candidates must be flexible to support all shifts / sites as required

Reporting to the Contract General Manager

Job purpose



The Senior Operations Manager maximises the overall performance of the business and ensures the Department is managed in a safe, legal and compliant manner.

The Senior Operations Manager provides leadership, in translating company objectives into operational plans and delivering world class performance of the warehouse operation. This includes managing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators for all warehouse activities

The Senior Operations Manager ensures that business contracts achieve excellent customer satisfaction and levels of shop-floor management and control. Exceeding the customers' expectations is key to this role along with driving and maintaining a strategic emphasis on developing operational improvements across the warehouse.

The Senior Operations Manager also ensures that there is a safe working environment for all staff.

The Senior Operations Manager will promote the company's services and capabilities and will seek out new business opportunities to grow the business.

This role will provide leadership, direction and motivation to all their employees as well as ensuring training and development plans are in place for all warehouse personnel. The Operations Manager must ensure that the personnel are developed and are able to maximise their potential.

The Senior Operations Manager is also responsible for creating, as well as ensuring compliance to Vantec's policy on creating and sustaining a "Safe Working Environment" through the implementation of 5S activities.

This role will require an element of Project Management and support during business transition and improvement activities.

Summary of main tasks



To understand company and customer long term and annual objectives To lead the translation of company and customer objectives into operational and improvement activity plans To set objectives that are linked to the annual operational and improvement plans To achieve objectives set by their General Manager and be aware of the overall business and company performance and objectives To oversee disciplinary and grievance issues in line with Vantec policies To manage resources to cover management absence and peaks and troughs in workload To ensure performance management is carried out fairly and consistently with regards Appraisal and Fact File processes To follow and enforce company and site rules and liaise with the host companies on issues relating to Health and Safety To verify that 8D reports and incident and accident reports are completed on time and at the expected quality level To lead and direct Health & Safety improvement activities, including accident reduction strategies To lead and promote continuous improvement through data analysis and forecasting models To ensure that customer and Company KPIs are achieved To ensure that Genba Kanri (GK) & ISO accreditation is maintained to the Company target level To lead the development of the business succession plan and ensure that training and development plans are in place to maximise the potential of management and key staff To ensure financial & Commercial targets are met, including sales, cost control and profit To maintain the customer agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA's) To promote the Company services with the customer and / or any external companies / bodies Any other duties as covered by your contract of employment To strategically lead and drive all activities with regards to "Opportunities for improvement" To take part in discussions and decisions with regards to warehouse utilisation and communicate to the warehouse any new company and process initiatives To ensure investigations into inventory anomalies and discrepancies are performed and any subsequent actions are closed To manage the GK & ISO culture and carry out all agreed audits to schedule To take part in operational related meetings with the customer To support the business in forecasting and modelling overall operational performance through strategic data analytics To manage and control the operational budget through performance management and cost control

Stakeholder/Customer:



To liaise with customers to understand site objectives and goals To ensure that Vantec operate in a safe working environment To support the development and creation of contracts and service level agreements Actively ensure the customer is fully satisfied with the level of service being provided, whilst providing constant feedback Ensure Shift Managers and Supervisory members are aware of the importance of customer service and monitor their performance Support tasks externally as required

Staff/People/Team:



Actively communicate with managers and the customer to effectively handle day to day operations and communicate any problems and concerns Delegate tasks and set objectives to all reporters Ensure Shift Managers and Supervisors are achieving daily Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and objectives Enforce safe working practices and duty of care for all team members Promote performance management

Processes:



Understand Space & Manning Models Aligned Manning Models to SMV's to develop cost model and PP Manage the policy deployment and objectives setting process Ensure GK & ISO compliance to meet company objectives To oversee SLA's / Key Task Monitor (KTMs) in regard to operational responsibilities and improvements planning Manage the operations with clear, concise decision making and problem solving Monitor the daily running of areas of responsibilities Monitor warehouse mapping/stock movement Develop KTM documents; manage / oversee project activities Monitor the ILU Matrix to support the flexibility of the operation Complete daily KPI status report that is shared with both internal and external higher-level management Support the operation with clear, concise decision making and problem solving

Manage the operational cost in accordance with the budget

Control the information flow from the systems to allow focussed and directed management of resources Manage and analyse the performance indicators to ensure a Safe, Controlled and Efficient Operational condition at all times Understand and identify trends to support ongoing negotiations with the customer base to ensure protected operations Be able to or be working towards and ability to utilise software to support the requirements above such as SAP, MS Excel, Power BI, Tableau, Vantec Inventory Management System (VIMS), Vantec Ticket Management System (VTMS), Vantec Management System (VSMS), Vantec Document Management Systems (VDMS), SharePoint
