The Role
We're looking for a Senior Operations Manager to take overall responsibility for the efficient, safe, and profitable delivery of all operational activity across Sherratt Group Ltd.
You'll lead and support a dedicated team of Operational Coordinators, Administrative Staff, and Team Leaders across our Grounds Maintenance, Landscaping/Construction and Arboriculture divisions. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on operational management -- driving performance, safety, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day operations across all service divisions.
Ensure effective scheduling, resource allocation, and service delivery.
Support site audits, toolbox talks, and safety and quality checks.
Maintain strong communication between office and field teams.
Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop operational and administrative staff.
Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture across all teams.
Promote accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Process & Systems Improvement
Identify and implement operational improvements to boost efficiency.
Integrate digital tools and automation to streamline reporting and workflows.
Ensure operational processes, documentation, and compliance remain up to date.
Oversee carbon reduction planning in line with environmental commitments.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Act as a senior point of contact for key clients and partners.
Support Contract Managers in maintaining strong client relationships and resolving issues.
Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand client partnerships.
Reporting & Strategy
Produce clear, accurate operational reports for senior leadership.
Analyse performance trends and recommend improvements.
Support long-term business planning, budgeting, and contract mobilisation.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and environmental regulations.
Oversee investigations and implement preventative measures.
About You
We're looking for someone who can combine operational expertise with strong leadership and commercial awareness.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in senior operations management - ideally in grounds maintenance, arboriculture, or landscaping.
Supporting qualifications (or equivalent experience)
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
Commercially aware with the ability to drive efficiency and profitability.
Confident using digital systems, AI automation and reporting tools.
Sound knowledge of ISO standards, H&S, and environmental compliance.
Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
