The post holder will assist in the delivery of the day to day activities in the dispensary. They will carry out duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. The post holder is primarily responsible for dispensing discharge and inpatient medication, as well as outpatient medication and other "housekeeping" duties. The post holder may be required to work at any site across King's College NHS Foundation Trust.
An exciting new job opportunity has arisen at Beckenham Beacon (part of King's College Hospital NHS Trust) to join the dispensary team as a Senior Assistant Technical Officer. This new role will be primarily based at Beckenham Beacon, but cross-site working will be required as part of the 7-day operational model.
The successful candidate will be an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Senior Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officer looking to progress their career.
They will assist the pharmacist at Beckenham Beacon in the delivery of pharmacy services
Dispense discharge and outpatient prescriptions
Dispense inpatient requests, order medicines and process invoices from wholesalers
Be responsible for restocking of consumables, receive, unpacking and storage of incoming medicines into the department
Liaise with the Beckenham Beacon pharmacist concerning errors and stock issues
Carry out duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
Assist the Pharmacy Team in the delivery of safe, effective and economical use of drugs for all patients in the Trust
To support the Beckenham Beacon pharmacist by contributing to the development of the dispensary services
To be able to dispense inpatient, discharge and outpatient medication accurately.
To be able to oversee storage, archive and removal of paperwork kept for legal requirements in the department
To be able to follow standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
To be able receive, take payment for and process outpatient prescriptions
To be able to complete end of day financial reporting
To be able to return uncollected outpatient prescriptions to stock according to (SOPs)
To be able to counsel patients on their outpatient medication
To be able to carry out general housekeeping duties (tidying, restocking consumables, filing prescriptions etc.)
To be able to participate in the monthly pharmacy date checking rota
To be able to participate in and contribute to departmental meetings
To be able to assist in the training of new members of staff rotating into the dispensary
To be able to participate in a 7-day operational model including working weekends and late shifts.
