We are seeking a dedicated Senior Practitioner to join the Children & Families Team in Birmingham. Key Responsibilities
Case Management: Lead and manage complex and high-risk child protection and care proceedings cases.
Practice Leadership: Serve as a mentor and role model, supporting the development of less experienced social workers and newly qualified staff.
Safeguarding Coordination: Take a lead in strategy meetings, Section 47 enquiries, and child protection planning.
Legal Proceedings: Prepare detailed reports for court and provide expert witness evidence where required.
Multi-Agency Working: Collaborate with health, education, and law enforcement partners to ensure integrated and comprehensive care plans.
Quality Assurance: Support audit activities and help implement improvements that raise practice standards.
Reflective Practice: Participate in supervision, learning forums, and team development to embed a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
Degree in Social Work or equivalent
Registration with Social Work England
Minimum of 4 years' post-qualification experience, ideally with supervisory responsibilities
Strong background in child protection, court proceedings, and mentoring junior colleagues
Confident, child-centred approach with a passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable children
