Senior Product Lead



Overview



We are embarking on a strategic initiative that unites Pocket Gamer, Addicting Games, and a new eShop platform to create an interconnected ecosystem supporting discovery, curation, and direct monetisation of indie games.

This is a greenfield, 0-1 product leadership opportunity to build something from the ground up. You will own the product vision, strategy, and execution for the new Pocket Gamer Web Shop--a discovery platform and aggregated e-commerce destination for indie developers--while simultaneously revitalising Addicting Games as a modern casual games hub.

This role requires a senior product leader who has built platforms, marketplaces, or web shops before. You will work closely with leadership, internal dev teams, and external partners to define requirements, deliverables, and timelines, while representing the project to the wider games industry.

Top Priorities



Own end-to-end product strategy for the Pocket Gamer Web Shop and Addicting Games platform improvements Lead 0-1 build of a marketplace/discovery platform, including templatized self-service storefronts, IAP solutions, and payment integrations Build and leverage your network to secure developer participation, publisher partnerships, and industry credibility Drive integration and cross-promotion across all three platforms (PG, AG, Web Shop) to create a virtuous traffic and monetisation loop Represent the initiative externally at industry events, with partners, and to the developer community

Key Responsibilities



Product Strategy & Development



Define the product vision, roadmap, and go-to-market strategy for the Web Shop and Addicting Games Lead design and delivery of the web shop platform, including discovery/recommendation engine, self-service storefronts, IAP infrastructure, and payment solutions Make build vs. buy decisions on tech stack, partnerships, and third-party integrations Oversee updates to Addicting Games to improve curation, editorial integration, community features, and developer onboarding Collaborate with engineering, design, and editorial teams to hit aggressive milestones Own platform economics--ensure the business model works for developers, users, and the company

Partnership & Business Development



Build and maintain relationships with small- to mid-sized game developers and publishers Secure launch partners and ongoing content supply for the Web Shop Negotiate partnership terms, revenue shares, bundles, and cross-promotions Leverage existing industry relationships or build new ones to establish credibility quickly Work with payment providers, platform vendors, and technology partners Commercial & Strategic Leadership Monitor industry trends, competitor activity and emerging opportunities Make data-driven decisions on feature prioritisation, pricing models, and monetisation strategies Partner with finance and leadership to manage budgets, forecast revenue, and evaluate ROI Present strategic recommendations and progress updates to executive leadership

Cross-Functional Leadership



Lead a small, cross-functional team (internal and external resources) through influence and collaboration Run weekly progress meetings, track KPIs, and ensure alignment across sales, marketing, content, and tech Represent the product vision across the organisation and rally stakeholders around shared goals Navigate ambiguity, make trade-offs, and keep the team focused on what matters most

About You



Must-Haves



8+ years of product management experience in gaming, digital platforms, marketplaces, or e-commerce Proven track record of launching 0-1 products, especially platforms, marketplaces, or web shops Deep expertise in platform economics: IAP, monetisation strategies, payment integrations, and revenue models Experience in the indie gaming ecosystem: understanding developer needs, discoverability challenges, and alternative distribution models Strategic product thinker who can set vision, define strategy, and execute independently with minimal oversight Strong technical fluency: can work with engineers to make architecture and tech stack decisions Exceptional stakeholder management: able to influence cross-functionally and build consensus across leadership, dev teams, and external partners Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, moving fast, and iterating based on feedback

Highly Desirable



Platform experience: Previous role at Steam, Epic, Apple App Store, Google Play, TapTap, Itch.io, or similar Established gaming industry network: existing relationships with indie developers, publishers, or platform vendors Business development or partnership management background in gaming or digital marketplaces Experience launching in competitive or emerging markets where you had to differentiate and build credibility from scratch Passion for supporting indie developers and democratizing game distribution
