Sitting within the Vocational Qualifications division of Workforce Skills, the Business Development United Kingdom and International Professional Development Team is responsible for the development and delivery teacher related Professional Development training for the BTEC International qualifications Levels 1-3, BTEC Foundation Diploma, BTEC Specialist and Professional Qualifications Levels 1-7 and BTEC Higher Nationals (United Kingdom and internationally).

In addition to our qualification\'s teacher training, the team work to develop and rollout commercial PD (Professional Development) related projects with recent examples including the Amazon Web-based Services bootcamp, an Early Years Teacher Training programme in China, and a Vocational TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) solution to an education group.

Senior Professional Development Manager - Higher Education and International

Reporting to the Strategic Lead - International Product Solutions and Training, the Senior Professional Development Manager - Higher Education and International is responsible for the coordination and delivery of teacher training tied to our BTEC qualification suites.

The accountabilities include the following overall Pearson Strategic themes:

Ensuring high quality vocational education is rightly valued as part of the curriculum offer for schools, further education colleges, alternative providers, employers, and higher education - where there is a potential to transform lives and create pathways and opportunities for all learners are recognised and increased.

Using various data and market research techniques including but not limited to Customer feedback forms, research questionnaires, and meetings with customers, establish ways to demonstrate how our products and services have a measurable impact on learners\' lives; in short to take a leading role in Pearson\'s move to become more efficacious.

Leading the agenda on standards in vocational education - we believe everyone has a part to play in championing, supporting, or delivering this and we aspire to be synonymous with high quality vocational provision in education.

Putting the customer (centre, teacher, and student) at the heart of everything we do;

Using technology to transform the experience of teaching and learning for our vocational propositions - in the planning, delivery and reporting of our qualifications, in the provision of content and in the way we engage with teachers and learners.

Identifying new ways of doing business, innovative products, services, and ways of engaging with our customers to deliver new offerings into the broader vocational market.

The role covers all the associated key accountabilities/ activities:

Commercial

Work with the Strategic Lead in developing the strategic priorities for qualification launch and growth globally and lead in the development of associated operational delivery plans for training to meet agreed revenue goals.

Explore and develop opportunities for revenue growth through paid for CPD UK and Internationally

Maintain a key understanding of CPD trends, developments, and best practices.

Ownership of commercial asynchronous content.

Programme Management

Develop and maintain a strategy for the BDUKI Global training provision (live and asynchronous) ensuring that fit with corporate, divisional and team objectives.

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the BDUKI Professional Development CPD programme. Ensure that all strategies and associated activity are informed by the \xe2\x80\x9cvoice of the Customer\xe2\x80\x9d and periodically report to Strategic Lead strategies for ongoing development.

Ownership of compliances processes for BDUKI PD and Associated Quality Improvement Plans, ensuring that training sessions are delivered to a high standard.

Work with the Pearson Marketing team to ensure that the BDUKI PD provision is appropriately advertised.

Oversee the generation of CPD Materials ensuring that writers and subject experts develop training that is up-to-date and appropriately addresses the needs of attendees, understanding the different starting points of participants from different contexts and international Jurisdictions.

Management of the BDUKI Professional Development budget and revenue

Management of Financial aids related to Professional Development Projects

Identifying new training opportunities

Outsourcing work including working with \xe2\x80\x9cTraining from Pearson, where appropriate to ensure that CPD training is set-up within SLAs and where needed venues booked in appropriate locations.

Performance Management

Oversee the performance management of Pearson\'s Training Associates

Oversee the delivery of continual Professional Development for associate annually.

Oversee the induction process for new trainers, writers and vetters.

Audit training sessions, identifying points for improvement/action considering Pearson\'s regulatory requirements.

Ownership of Training policy documentation

Periodic reporting to Senior Leadership on the Professional Development Programme

Stakeholder Management

Identify new ways of doing business, Innovate, products, services, and ways of engaging with customers to deliver new offerings to the global market.

Provide 121 and group training/coaching to stakeholders\' groups where required.

Supplier Management

  • Point of contact for onboarding suppliers.
Team Management

Ability to lead a team.

Line management of direct reports.

Required Skills/ Experience:

Essential experience for the role:

Proven work experience as a Training manager and managing a team.

A proven track record of leading projects and influencing within teams, as well as working in a matrix structure.

Excellent communication and leadership skills

Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively.

Good computer and database skills

Desirable experience for the role:

Experience of teaching and/ or developing educational services

Knowledge/ experience of customer approval metrics

Knowledge/ experience of implementing efficacy.

Role Qualifications:

Essential:

Educated to Level 6 or above, or with sufficient demonstrable experience that shows qualification for the role.

Highly proficient and confident in verbal and written communication, including presenting to teacher audiences.

Experienced in working in a digital environment and in using electronic packages such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
