How you\'ll make a difference

The Property Business Support team is key to ensuring the division is operating to Property Council Plan priorities and is made up of staff specialising in project management, data management, business intelligence, finance, customer services, climate and procurement.

In this role you will take the lead in managing key projects for the Property & Business Support service. You will work with colleagues from across the Authority and with external partners and stakeholders to ensure the projects are delivered effectively and on schedule by achieving key objectives and providing value for money.

What will you be doing

  • Working closely with the Programme Manager, other Project managers, internal and external stakeholders (including contractors), councillors and other colleagues across Property Services you will manage specified projects across the Property Portfolio. This includes managing the successful delivery of a range of capital projects and providing a full Project Management service across the RIBA Stages.
  • You will manage the procurement of contractors and consultants to ensure works and services are tendered in accordance with SGC\'s financial regulations and standing orders.
  • You will be responsible for managing the contracts for the engagement of contractors and consultants.
  • You will prepare and regularly update programmes, risk management registers, overall project cost reports, ensuring cost plans are prepared at appropriate gateways. You will prepare tender reports/appraisals for Director approval and implement a Change Management strategy to monitor and control time, cost, and quality.
  • You will ensure that the Property Services project governance process is followed, and project objectives are achieved through the continuous monitoring of cost, quality, time, scope, risk, and benefits.
What we need from you
  • It is essential that you have a proven ability to manage complex construction projects within a large organisation.
  • You must have a recognised Project/Programme management Qualification such as Prince2 (Agile) or APM and experience of the RIBA model.
  • We require you to have both knowledge and experience of working with specific performance improvement tools and strong ICT skills.
  • You must possess an excellent strategic awareness with experience of working in a political environment.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, influencing and persuasive.
  • It is essential that you have the ability to work to strict deadlines, managing a demanding workload and prioritising accordingly.
